The Honda BR-V compact crossover has been one of the most awaited new car launches in India, ever since the Japanese car major displayed the vehicle at the 2016 Auto Expo. Although Honda Cars India introduced its brand new BR-V SUV to India at the Auto Expo, the company did not divulge the exact time frame when the vehicle will be launched in the country’s domestic market. Now, if the latest reports are to be believed, Honda India is getting all braced up to launch the BR-V SUV officially in the Indian market on 1^st of May. Although it was also reported earlier that the new Honda BR-V compact SUV is expected to launch in India in the month of May this year, the exact launch date of the vehicle was never confirmed.

According to a latest report the Honda BR-V would hit the market on 1^st of May, 2016. If this is true, then the Honda BR-V would be the second offering from the house of the Japanese car major in the Indian car market in this year after the new refreshed Amaze’s launch.

Like the Mobilio MPV, the Honda BR-V is based on the extended Brio platform and also shares many parts and the general design with the Mobilio MPV. Post the Indian launch, the Honda BR-V will be rivaling against the likes of the immensely popular Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster in the hugely popular Indian compact SUV market.

Along with the immerging reports about the imminent launch of the BR-V, other reports have also emerged about the Honda Mobilio MPV. Rumors are rife that the Japanese car maker is planning to pull the plug on the Mobilio, as the MPV is in the same price range as that of the BR-V in India and also to make space for the production of the BR-V. The Mobilio MPV which was launched in July 2014 has not been able to strike the right cords with the buyers and has been a poor seller. The MPV could manage to find just 226 takers in February this year.

The Honda BR-V gets equipped with a 1.5 liter 4-cylinder i-VTEC petrol motor that pumps out a top power of 117 bhp at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 145 Nm at 4,700 rpm. The engine is coupled to a 6 speed manual transmission gearbox. The compact SUV is also expected to come powered with a 1.5 liter i-DTEC diesel motor that powers most of the diesel models by Honda Cars India.

The Honda BR-V compact crossover would be fully loaded with many premium features. The vehicle will also be equipped with many safety features like dual front SRS airbag, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution), HAS (Hill Start Assist) and VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) among others.

The BR-V will be Honda Cars India’s sole competitor in the mass compact SUV market of India, while its other compact SUV offering is flagship model – CR-V.

The new and latest BR-V Crossover by Honda is now ready for its grand premier release on 20th of August 2015 at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2015. The BR-V crossover will be first released in Indonesia, and at the show itself the bookings for this Exquisite BR-V crossover will start.

When it was questioned about the BR-V crossover model potential for sale in the Indian market, the Senior Vice President of the Honda for sales and marketing of the Honda cars India, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen exclaimed in his speech that, the sketches for the cars have been made and announced, and the company is still scrutinizing the market potential of SUV model cars, and as a result they did not land onto any such conclusion as of now.

In a big Trade fair Mobilio was introduced and launched, in the Archipelago, even before it was launched in India. Mr. Sen exclaimed that it would too premature to talk the stuff we have to display at the AutoExpo event to be held next year. In addition, he also spoke to the Indian Autos Blog when questioned about the grand premier of the BR-V crossover, which might take place in India. The Br-V crossover was designed and developed by the Honda Research and Development Asia Pacific Company Limited, based in Thailand.

The BR-V crossover is said to have stuff with features, well the car has a three row seating layout design with superb comfortability, now coming to the crucial components of the crossover, well it has 1.5 Liter i-VTEC petrol engine with two transmissions, especially designed for the superb market in Indonesia. Well Mobilio makes an advantage because the components of this BR-V crossover might be shared with it, such as its 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol engine which is the latest automobile engine torque of 145Nmand 118 PS, another thrilling feature is that it can be coupled to a 5-speed manual along with a CVT. It’s just because of its exquisite belligerent design (Crossover style), which can compete very well against the Mahindra Scorpio, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, etc.

The production of this Exquisite BR-V crossover will begin probably by the beginning of the next year in Indonesia itself, afterwards it will move to India and the Asia Pacific regions. It is very important for you to know that the recently released Honda Mobilio had followed the same path for its launch, made its grand premiere in Indonesia (debuted) and then followed all the way to India for reaching the great heights of success. However, if the plans of the company changes, and they start planning about launching the BR-V Crossover in India, the vehicle will be powered by means of the1.5 liter i-DTEC diesel engine as well, so the people who like petrol cars can buy it and who like diesel cars can also buy it, so here won’t be any clashes in between. This diesel engine was most recently introduced and launched in India on the Honda Jazz.

Honda, the Japanese automaker which has been ruling the world of automobile is set to launch its SUV in 2016. The company is working on their compact SUV with several competitors around. The SUV has already got major rivals like the Ford EcoSport, to-be launched Hyundai ix25 and Renault Duster. While lot of other car makers are readying their Compact SUV’s on a completely new platform. Few others are using the same platform for pricing their SUV’s in the competitive market.

The Japanese car maker is already working on the development of its entry level compact car. It has been already confirmed that the development of Entry level compact SUV has already begun. The model is likely to be positioned below the brio hatchback. One can expect a little resemblance with the CR-V in relation to the design. The design is expected to feature like amaze and Mobilio while the rear could feature like CR-V inspired tail-lamps. Also, under the bonnet we expect to see 1.5 liter I-VTEC petrol and 1.5 liter diesel engine. Both the engines would be powerful enough so we can expect the SUV to be much frugal.

As far as the pricing is concerned, the SUV would range between 6.5 lakh with a start which could go up to 11 lakhs. It is expected that the prices in Indian showrooms could start from 8 lakh.  It is also believed that the company could introduce its 5-seater car to compete with EcoSport. It is also expected that the company would launch its automatic as well as manual version of the SUV. The Honda Brio will face stiff competition in the domestic market in the SUV segment. The petrol unit and other mechanics are likely to be tried and tested. The development and changes of the SUV will be done in the R & D centre in India in order to increase the localization.

The SUV will be first seen at the Tokyo market show that is to be scheduled in October, 2015. Honda is definitely betting a big time on the success of SUV. However, it can also be said that the company is losing sales significantly for having a yearlong break. Since the details are not much out yet, however we can get closer to the October unveil. The segment of Compact cars which was initially started by Premier Rio has anticipated tremendous growth and is expected to grow even more with the arrival of new SUV’s. The report also says that the launch will take place in the second half of 2016. The SUV will be spacious to easily accommodate 5 members which definitely mean that it will not fall under 4 meter space. The SUV will possess rugged looks with aggressive body cladding, large bumpers, and roof rails. With the competitor’s is having criticized for poor interiors, the Brio SUV is expected to have better quality interiors. More details are expected to reveal with the October expo.
