The new facelift of the Honda Brio has been showcased at the Indonesia Motor Show this year. There are quite a few changes made to the Brio in this mid-life facelift. The changes mainly involve cosmetic changes but some conspicuous tweaks are made to the engine and other features as well.

The Indonesian-spec Brio is called the Brio Satya. The facelift of the car seems to be inspired by the Honda Amaze. Many exterior features are similar to that of the 2016 Amaze. The front fascia gets most of the cosmetic changes. The front profile is made more aggressive with a large black plastic grille with dual-slats. The radiator intake and faux intakes are larger. The fog lamps are placed on the faux intake. The Honda logo is embedded boldly on the grille. The rear profile remains the same, with an added chrome bar as an attempt to make it look slightly different.

The interiors of the new facelift include changes inspired by the BR-V concept. The dashboard is similar to that of the BR-V and the Amaze facelift. With some silver accents, the new dashboard looks way more sophisticated than the plastic-like cheap looking dash of the predecessor. The new dashboard is matte.

The steering wheel design is not much different, but there is a new one-pod instrument cluster, a double DIN JVC stereo system. The HVAC system has been revised with new controls and a digital display unit.

The engine of the car is not being changed. It is the same old 1.2 liter i-VTEC engine with the 4-cylinder setting. The engine has however been tuned to produce 90PS power and 110Nm torque, compared to the 88PS and 109Nm of the outgoing model. Though this isn’t really a very conspicuous change, it has been undone with what seems like a mistake. The 5-speed AT option has been ditched for an Earth Dreams Tech CVT option. The 5-speed MT remains the standard transmission system.

The car is likely to reach the Indian market by the end of this year. Here, it will compete the Chevrolet Beat, the Maruti Suzuki Ritz, and tougher rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, the Hyundai i10 series and the Hyundai Eon.

The car is being sold in the Indonesian market at an Indian equivalent of around INR 6.6 lac. In the Indian market, all variants of the car can be expected to come in the INR 4.0 lac to INR 6.0 lac range, considering the aggressive pricing of all the rivals.

The recently launched Tiago hatchback from Toyota has a price range of INR 3.2 lac to INR 5.5 lac. If the Brio facelift is to do well in the Indian market, it needs aggressive pricing, because the Eon and the Tiago already offer the best of specs.

Until the Brio facelift reaches Indian shores, the Indonesian market can be observed to gauge the performance of the car in those parts. However, for the Indian market, it will be a totally different story altogether.

Honda Cars India has dismissed rumors of discontinuing the Honda Mobilio. The arrival of the Honda BR-V raised rumors of replacing the Mobilio, but the Japanese automaker confirmed that the BR-V 7-seater and the Mobilio will be two different models which will both be seen in the market together.

The BR-V 7-seater crossover will enter the market around June this year. The rumors of the upcoming car replacing the Mobilio stemmed from specs comparisons of these two models. Being somewhat similar, it was first imagined, and then declared that the BR-V will consume the sales of the Mobilio.

As they say, all rumors do have some truth in it, it is probably time Honda should consider the usefulness of the Mobilio in the market. The car has sold only 3,338 units in the August 2015 to January 2016 time space. The car has managed to bring Honda, just under 3 percent shares in the MPV segment.

New rumors claim that Honda is planning to introduce a new facelift of the Mobilio to let the model have another chance in the market. Though nothing of this has been officially declared or admitted, if Honda is not to discontinue the car, a facelift is the only logical step to take.

If the facelift is happening anytime soon, it is highly likely that the new Mobilio will follow the design language of the 2016 Amaze and take some cues from the Indonesian version of the Mobilio.

The facelift is likely to get some features in tune with the BR-V. For example, the dashboard is likely to be inspired by the BR-V design and so is the MID that is expected to be present in the top trim variants. The facelift will further feature an HVAC system with automatic climate control technology, a new display unit, and restructured instrument cluster and buttons.

However, since it is too early to know if the facelift news too is a rumor, we can only take a closer look at how the current Mobilio is doing in the market. The rumors for a discontinuation stemmed up from a mixture of the BR-V craze and the fact that the sales of the Mobilio is steadily dropping. The car has sold just a little over 10,000 units since March 2015. This averages to 1000 units per month. The lowest sales in recent times were recorded in the November 2015 to January 2016 time gap. The car sold 393, 192, and 441 units respectively in these three months.

At present, the only cars in the segment doing worse than the Mobilio are the Nissan Evalia and the Chevrolet Enjoy. The future of both these cars appear doomed. However, Honda is still trying to get back in the game and give a new competition to the segment leaders, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, the Toyota Innova, and the Chevrolet Tavera, all of which are performing well and giving each other a tough competition.

Hence, as of now, the Mobilio is staying and the BR-V will soon be launched to help the Mobilio stabilize the Company’s foothold in the MPV segment.

The 2016 model of the Honda Brio entry level compact hatchback has not reached the dealers yet, as per reports. Reports say that some dealership outlets in New Delhi as well as Mumbai have revealed that the 2016 Honda Brio batch of models has not yet reached the dealers.

The Honda Brio, the company’s entry level model and the cheapest offering was Honda Cars India’s savior during its days of struggle in the Indian car market as it broke the expensive stigma attached to Honda cars. However, Brio could never be actually the company’s game changer in India, and while it went on to offer many other Honda cars based on its platform in India and global market, the Brio’s sells kept on falling. Over the last two years, the Honda Brio hatch hasn’t been doing very well in India, and the delay of the 2016 models of the car could be the company’s way to clear the piled-up stocks.

The Honda Brio belongs to the popular compact hatchback segment of India, which has high selling car models. The Brio’s popular market rivals in India easily manage to get the sales volumes of more than 10,000 units on average per month. However, for the Honda Brio crossing even the minimum sales mark of 1,000 units per month has also not been possible for some time now. Owing to the poor market performance of the Brio, Honda Cars India has obviously shifted its focus on the high sales volume drawers like the company’s bestselling product the Honda City premium sedan and the new generation Honda Jazz premium hatchback that was introduced to India in July, 2015.

Honda Cars India might be resuming the production of the Brio small hatch, once the company clears the already present inventory of the car. On the other hand, it is also very much possible that the company is currently busy utilizing the Brio’s assembly line for rolling out the new BR-V compact SUV model that is going to hit the Indian car market later this year. However, it is possible too early for Honda Cars India to commence the production of the new BR-V. It is good to mention that the new Honda BR-V SUV is also based on the extended version of the Brio’s platform just like the Honda Mobilio MPV, while the Amaze uses the same platform as the Brio hatchback.

The capable and stylish Honda Brio hatch’s sales is hurt most by the lack of a diesel counterpart, while its glass hatch design has also not gone down well with some potential buyers. While Honda has already confirmed at the 2016 Auto Expo that the company has no plans of introducing a diesel Brio model, a refreshed Brio can be expected in some time.

The Honda Brio has many accolades under its belt. The small Brio had served as quite a game changer for the Japanese car major which was once struggling to survive the intense Indian car market. The Brio brought good sales to its maker, when the brand was not attracting many buyers. Moving ahead, the Brio’s flexible platform gave birth too many more cars which are successfully selling in India like the Amaze and the Mobilio, while the BR-V is yet to come and expected to charm the Indian audience.

Now, the good old Honda Brio entry level small hatchback model has been gained the honor of the Best Built Car of the year 2015 in the country. As per the latest study conducted by J.D Power, the Brio is the best built car of the year according to the various manufacturing qualities of the car and the way it has been significantly improved over the last 5 years of time.

The J.D. Power 2015 India Initial Quality Study or IQS, as usual conducted the consumer based studies on cars this year as well which considers as many as 200 problems across 8 categories in the initial car ownership of a new car.
The J.D. Power IQS investigates over 200 problem symptoms in categories including Engine and transmission, HVAC; Vehicle exteriors; Vehicle interiors; controls & displays; Seats; audio, entertainment & navigation; and Driving Experience. All these problems symptoms are ascertained for a particular brand of vehicle model based on the number of problems per 100 units or PP100, which means lower the PP100 Score, the better the car’s initial quality.

As per the this year’s study reports, the Honda Brio has received the best score with just 41 PP100, which has earned it the title of the Best Built Car of 2015 in India. The PP100 scores of this year’s J.D Power study of many other good scoring cars include the Hyundai Eon with a score of 78 PP100, Hyundai Elite i20/ i20 Active with 61 PP100, Hyundai i10 with 83 PP100, Toyota Etios with 82 PP100, Toyota Innova with 44 PP100, Ford EcoSport with 75 PP100 and Honda City with 68 PP100.

Going more in favor of the Honda Brio, the study results also show that among the new owners of the Honda Brio, 71 percent owners said that they will definitely recommend the small hatchback model to all their family and friends as a high quality car worth a buy.

The Honda Brio is among the best looking small cars in India and grabs attention for its stylish and unique looks. The Brio is a sub-4 meter small hatchback and measures around 3610 mm long, 1680 wide, 1500 mm tall and stands on a wheelbase of 2345 mm.

The Honda Brio is also a well equipped car with stylish and comfy interiors. The car gets features like DVD player with USB, Aux-in port and Bluetooth, ABS, engine immobilizer, seat belt reminder, etc.

The Brio packs in a 1.2 liter petrol motor generating 86.8bhp of power and 109Nm of torque, with manual and automatic transmission options.

There has been certainly no looking back for Honda Cars India Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of the Japanese car major Honda Motor. Ever since, the launch of its first diesel car in the Indian car market – the Amaze, the company has been churning out one after the other hit new car models like the new generation City premium sedan, all new Mobilio MPV and this year’s launch, the new generation Jazz premium hatchback. All these new model launches in India, made the Japanese car major swell really well in terms of demands and sales. The company had to increase the production capacity for its new launches while compromising on the production of its older popular models to cater to the demands of the domestic Indian car market.

However, Honda Cars India does not have any intensions of slowing down and has many big plans for the Indian market. The company is also planning to launch its brand new BR-V compact crossover in India pretty soon. This only means that Honda will be experiencing more production constrains after its other new launches come into the picture, which will jeopardize the production and sales of some of the popular Honda models in India. Thus, in order to solve its production capacity issues Honda Cars India apart from planning on a new facility has also decided to invest heavily on its current two manufacturing facilities in order to increase their production capacity.

Honda Cars India will be investing around Rs. 600 crore in its two existing manufacturing plants – one of which is located in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh and the other at Tapukara, in Rajasthan. This whopping amount of investment will be used to rev up the manufacturing capacity as well as the R&D capabilities of Honda India.

Honda’s cumulative investment in India till now is Rs. 7,238 crore and the new investment will take it to about Rs. 7,800 crore.

The senior vice president at Honda Cars India, Raman Kumar Sharma revealed to the media that within this financial year, an investment of additional Rs. 500 to Rs. 600 crore would go into increasing the production capacity of the company’s Tapukara plant from the current 1,20,000 vehicles to the planned 1,80,000 vehicles per annum, while the company will also be boosting R&D department at its Greater Noida facility.

Honda India’s Greater Noida factory spreads over 150 acres of land and has the production capacity of 1,20,000 units per year. Few year ago, the company started an elementary Research & Development center at the facility, which will be upgraded to a full-fledged facility with an expected additional employment of 250 to 300 people.

Honda India’s newer Tapukara facility is spread over an extensive 437 acres of land, which offer ample opportunity for production capacity expansion unlike the Greater Noida plant.

Honda is aiming to expand from all aspects. It is planning to open 45 new outlets across India taking the total number to 300 from the current 255 by the end of this fiscal.

All the upcoming model launches are kept secret by the auto makers, until they think it is the right time to reveal them to the world. Similarly, Japanese car major, Honda is also trying to keep the development of the next generation Brio under the wraps, but the car crazy spies are always digging up the best kept secrets of the automotive world. And thus, the all new Honda Brio’s many details have already emerged despite Honda’s secrecy regarding the development.

The next generation model of the popular Honda Brio entry level hatchback is expected to hit the market by the year 2017. As per the reports, Honda is busy working on the all new model of the Brio hatchback in order to boost its sales and bring back its lost glory. In the Indian car market as well, the Honda Brio was very popular, but it’s lost the momentum in face of stiff market competition and the fast growing entry level hatchback segment in India. As Honda Motor is having a great stint in the Indian car market and the next-gen Honda Brio is going to be an important launch for the company to boost its sales in the entry level compact hatch market in India.

As per the latest reports, Honda Cars India is importing parts for a new product which has been codenamed as project 2TQ, and these parts are coming directly from Thailand.

Although, still now it is not certain as to which new upcoming products from the house of Honda has been codenamed as the 2TQ, most of the latest reports and speculations indicate that this new 2TQ is none other than the next gen Honda Brio.

It has also been known that the Honda Brio based new compact SUV named as the Honda BR-V which is codenamed as the 2SJ is expected to make get introduced sometime in the next year. Now, going by this, it can be expected that the next in line for the market launch will be the all new Honda Brio. Considering this fact that the currently imported car parts of the codenamed 2TQ might be the parts for the next-gen Brio model, the launch of the car might not be far away.

Earlier reports had indicated that the all new avatar of the Honda Brio compact hatchback is expected to get up-market interiors. Its unique glass hatch door is also expected to get new changes. As per the reports, the all new Honda Brio hatch will also probably give a miss to the current quirky rear design that does not go down well with everyone and will embrace a more conventional rear design as well as tail lights.

The next-gen Brio is likely retain the same 4 cylinder, 1.2 liter i-Vtec petrol motor that is coupled with 5 speed manual or automatic transmission.

The all ne Honda Brio is also expected to along with a new diesel avatar. If the speculations turn out to be true, then the next-gen Brio might be equipped with a 1.1 liter, 3 cylinder diesel mill.

Honda Motor has been already reported to be busy working on the next generation model of its popular Brio hatchback. The next generation Honda Brio model is expected to regain the compact hatchback’s popularity and boost its sales. The Honda Brio entry level hatchback has been successfully selling in the Indian car market and had been a game changer for the company when it first launched in India, when Honda Cars India was struggling to perform well in the market.

The next-gen Honda Brio is likely to be launched in the Indian car market by the year 2017. As per reports, Honda Cars India has been importing many parts for its new upcoming project that is codenamed as the 2QT, which is thought to be the next generation Brio hatchback. Moreover, it is also expected that to further expand its popular diesel cars portfolio in India, the next-gen Honda Brio might also get a diesel engine.

However, the exact engine details or specs that might get under the hood of the new generation Honda Brio is yet to be revealed. Nevertheless, it is expected that the all new hatchback could be endowed with a downsized version of the popular 1.5 liter i-DTEC engine.

Honda Cars India is also planning to setup a new manufacturing facility in Gujarat, and it is expected that the next generation Brio hatchback will be manufactured in this new facility. According to the reports, the Japanese car major is contemplating to achieve almost 100 percent localization level for the all new Brio. If Honda India can really manage to do this, then it is surely be able to offer great aggressive pricing for the all new Brio mini hatch, which will translate into great market success as well.

As the launch of the new-gen Honda Brio is still some time away, the new styling or design language details of the car are scarce at the moment. However, it is expected that the as the new model will be a next generation model, the all new Brio will be getting extensive design updates on the outside while also getting a significant revamp on the inside.

Apart from constantly working on new car models, Honda Motor is also currently busy developing a new engine family. This new range of engines will be seen providing power to the upcoming range of Honda cars. It is said that the new Honda engine family will be small in respect to size, but will be more powerful as well as more fuel efficient that the currently available Honda engines. The upcoming new range of engines from the house of Honda is expected to include a new 1.2 liter, 3 cylinder diesel engine, which could probably be the downsized version of the existing 1.5 liter i-DTEC diesel motor. And this new diesel mill is expected to power the all new Honda Brio compact hatchback.

The all new Honda Brio will surely increase the sales of the car in India.

Honda has recently revealed the facelifted version of Brio. The compact hatchback is one of the strongest players from the Honda family when it comes to the passenger cars. Owing its popularity to the beautiful exteriors, attractive features and a very efficient yet powerful engine, the car has steered its way into the list of top cars in the hatchback segment. During the 2015 Indonesian Auto Show, the car got displayed with style contrasting to the vehicle’s stylish yet conventional new exterior changes. However, it is said that Brio is one of those rare cars in the segment that looks quite stunning and sporty but as the companies have a rule to get a facelift done on all their models every 2 or 3 years, this facelift was inevitable. The version that got launched seems surprisingly similar to the model which got launched in Thailand back in 2013.

Honda Brio Green

However as the fans are dreamy eyed about the new facelift as they waited for quite sometime to see the facelifted version of their favourite hatchback. The not so good news for the ardent fans is that not all variants will be getting the said facelift. For the cheaper variants of the vehicle such as Honda Brio Satya, no changes have been done, the changes will cater to the mid and the top variants of the vehicle which is quite a surprising step taken by the leading Japanese automaker giant. But there is nothing to worry about as the vehicle has already managed to rake in pretty good sales numbers and the lower variant such as Satya is already very popular in some countries and it is rather unlikely that this will have some kind of negative impact on the overall performance of the vehicle in the market.

The changes which has been done to the vehicle are some big and some small such as a spoiler has been placed at the rear side, new round foglamps, a rear wiper which will be coming with a defogger, the new beautiful chrome garnish under the hatch handle and brand new 14 inch alloy wheels. Quite interesting we must say. Talking about the interior, we can say that the interiors are looking fabulous than ever. The company is offering the combination of black and grey interior while in the previous model, the colour tone was two tone black, beige combination which looked okay as well, but falls flat compared to the new colour combination.

Other than the colour tones, the insides are getting a couple of new features are well which are sure to woo the consumers in a big way. The 2-Din music system and the electric folding mirrors will be providing the vehicle with enhanced style and comfortability quotient.

Now let us come to the big thing, the powertrain. The engine powering the vehicle will be a 1.2 litre i-VTEC engine which will be doing the job of running the car while producing a peak power of 88 bhp along with the maximum torque of 109 Nm.

Japanese car major Honda is known for its well built stylish and technically rich vehicles. The company is also generally known for its premium and luxury cars and not entry level cars. However, the one car that changed this notion is the Brio hatchback. The Honda Brio entry level hatchback is no less than a small wonder, which helped the company get accepted and popular even in the mass market of India. In fact, Honda which was previously always suffering with low sales in India came to the limelight with the entry level Brio, which is the company’s most affordable offering.

The Honda Brio is an extremely trendy looking and well made hatchback model that offers style, space, good interiors, efficiency and affordability all in a wonderful small package. Prior to the time Honda India shot to fame with its diesel car models starting with the Amaze compact sedan, it was the Brio which made the Japanese company thrive in the price conscious Indian car market. Moreover, the Brio also has an excellently versatile platform which made way to the other successful models like the Amaze and the Mobilio, while the upcoming BR-V compact SUV is also based on the same platform. The Brio is thus a superb game changer for Honda and a very important car still now. Thus, the company is all set to launch a new refreshed Brio hatch to spark up its sales.

Honda will be taking the wraps off the new Brio facelift model at the upcoming 2015 GIIAS in Indonesia. The refreshed Honda Brio will get the changes that were offered on the Thai spec Brio launched in 2013. The Indian launch of the updated Brio is not confirmed as yet. On the other hand, there are also reports about Honda being busy working on the next generation model of the Brio, which is expected to come in 2017 or 2018. Thus, a new Brio is certain to come to India, sooner or later.

As for the changes of the facelift Honda Brio, the car will get added features including fog lights, a rear spoiler, tailgate handle finished in chrome, rear wiper with defogger and newly designed 15 inch alloy wheels. On the inside, replacing the black and beige two-tone theme, there will be stylish all black interiors along with the added features of electrically adjustable ORVMs, new music system and steering wheel mounted controls.

For the Indonesian market, the Honda Brio hatchback gets powered by a 1.3 liter i-VTEC and a 1.2 liter i-VTEC petrol mills offering 100 PS of power in combination with 127Nm of torque, and 88 PS of power with 109 Nm of torque, respectively. While a 5 speed manual transmission is standard, an automatic gearbox choice is also available.

Honda had given a minor update to the Brio hatchback in India in October 2014. Now, rumors are doing the rounds that the company is preparing to launch the next-gen Brio here, along with a diesel version powered by a new small diesel motor.
