It is time to find out whether the third generation Honda Jazz can compete the new Volkswagen Polo.</p>

<p>The new Honda Jazz will come with a redesigned, sparkling chassis while the new VW Polo will get an upgrade in the engine. After thee facelift, both the models are almost at par with each other in every area of concern, so let’s find out which contender wins the battle.</p>
<p><b>Price</b></p>
<p>The new Jazz is priced at a $16,990 base price while the Polo starts at $18,790. The Honda Jazz will replace its 1.3L engine with a 1.5L one and the 5 speed automatic transmission will be replaced with continuous variable transmission. The Polo will sport a 7 speed DSG.</p>
<p><b>Basic transformations</b></p>
<p>The soft dashboard, damped glovebox door and tactile buttons and spine-friendly seats of the VW Polo gives the car a more comfortable feel. However, the Jazz still remains the better looking car overall with more boot space than the Polo. The boot space of the Jazz is 25 percent more than the 280L of the Polo. Also, the folding ‘magic seats’ further add to the 350L boot space of the Jazz.  The folding rear seats of the Polo doesn’t match up to that of the Jazz.</p>
<p><b>Features</b></p>
<p>The Honda Jazz will come with a 7 inches color touchscreen and a back camera. The connectivity features include Bluetooth mobile connectivity and audio streaming. Android users will have fewer advantages with the car features than iPhone users. The HondaLink Navigation system can be downloaded for enhanced navigation.</p>

<p>The base trim of the Polo has no camera or satellite navigation option, only the Comfortline variant will boast these features. Volkswagen has however replaced the poor Bluetooth features with a 5 inches color touchscreen, USB port and SD reader along with a standard Bluetooth device. Unlike the Jazz, the Polo has no steering wheel buttons, therefore, requiring the driver to stretch over to reach for the infotainment utilities.</p>
<p><b>Performance</b></p>
<p>The new 1.5L 4 cylinder Jazz VTi has a few changes but the torque and power remain unchanged. The 1.2L 4 cylinder engine of the Polo offers a lower power of 66kW compared to the 88kW of the Jazz. However, the torque is higher at 160Nm compared to the 145Nm of the Jazz.</p>
<p>The fuel efficient start-stop system, sophisticated drivetrain, and the noiseless engine of the Polo outdo the drive experience of the Jazz. The responsive DSG system renders a quicker response to acceleration and brakes for the Polo. The 66kW power does not help the performance though.</p>
<p>The Honda CVT has a slower response while the high power engine makes up for the lag. The Honda Jazz offers 1700rpm compared to the 2100rpm of the Polo at 100kmph. The Jazz the more fuel efficient than the Polo, offering 23 percent higher mileage.</p>
<p><b>Verdict</b></p>
<p>The Honda Jazz is better as a utility vehicle with a high mileage, huge boot space and fully equipped technology. The VW Polo offers luxurious cabin comfort and better driving dynamics. Both the cars appeal to different target groups.</p>

		<div style="clear:both;"></div><p>Compelling more big names to come up with their new hatchbacks, Indian Territory is known widely for its love for the budget and the fuel efficient hatchbacks. Being in comparatively early stage, auto giants are eyeing Indian hatchback segment, seeing it as a very ripe market to enter. Along with the fuel efficiency, Indian consumers are extensively demanding about good features and the comfortability quotient in their cars. This lead a lot of companies to work hard to meet Indian car requirements in order to compete with others efficiently and have themselves a good market share. The current big names dominating the Indian premium hatchback segments are Honda Jazz, Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo and Maruti Suzuki Swift. Each one of them with their renewed features, affordable price are competing hard to impress generally unpredictable Indian consumers. We thought that it would be really interesting to observe these hatchbacks and pit them against each to conclude which one meets the Indian demands the best. Below are the observations we made.</p>

<p><b>Engine</b>- Hyundai i20’s petrol 1.2 litre engine churns out a maximum of 81 bhp of power along with 5 manual gears transmission with 114 Nm of torque while the 1.4 diesel motor provides 88 bhp power with 219 Nm torque and comes with 6-speed manual.</p>
<p>Polo, diesel engine-1.5 litre is good for 90bhp and 230 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand the 1.2 litre petrol one churns out a maximum power of 75 bhp power with 110 Nm torque. Petrol variant comes with a 5 speed gear transmission while the diesel engine works with 7-speed automatic transmission.</p>
<p>Jazz’s 1.2 litre petrol engine gives 89 bhp and 115 Nm while 1.5 litre diesels works well for 99 bhp and about 200 Nm of peak torque. They provide 5 speed and a six speed manual transmission, respectively.</p>
<p>Coming to Maruti Suzuki swift, the 1.2 litre engine (petrol) gives out 83 bhp and 114 Nm with the 1.3 litre diesel one churning out a maximum power of 74 bhp with 190 torque. Petrol variant has a 5 speed manual transmission with the diesel one having 6.</p>
<p><b>Design</b> – when it comes to the design what gives i20 an edge over others is the Hyundai’s very famous fluidic structure 2.0 philosophy that gives away a very unique and stylish look from the outside. While, others are decent as well but Hyundai is much ahead of them in this regard.</p>
<p>If the exterior of Hyundai is better it fails while comparing the interiors with Polo. Polo uses high quality materials giving it a stylish yet elegant edge over the others.</p>
<p><b>Features</b>- All the models in competition are mostly similar when it comes to the features. They all come with cruise control, wheel laced with additional controls, ABS, ALS, an efficient multimedia system with display among others. Giving it a slight edge over the others, Jazz comes with a touchscreen LCD.</p>
<p><b>Price- </b>Petrol of i20 ranges in between INR 5.50 lakh- 6.94 lakh with diesel variant, 6.42 lakh-8.05 lakh.</p>
<p>Polo is priced between 5.33 lakh- 6.41 lakh and 6.68 lakh-7.82 lakh for petrol and diesel variants, respectively.</p>
<p>Jazz, 5.31 lakh-7.85 for petrol and 6.49 lakh-8.59 for diesel.</p>
<p>Swift starts from 4.72 lakh to 6.17 lakh for the petrol and for the diesel it will cost you somewhere between 5.80 lakh-7.28 lakh depending on the model.</p>

Though the Honda Jazz was always a great and reliable premium hatchback model, it could not survive in the price conscious and diesel car loving market in India.</p>

<p>Now, the all new Honda Jazz is coming to India all set to become a huge success as it is braced with all the right ingredients this time around. The new Jazz has set high expectation levels in the Indian market owing to the brilliant new car offerings that Honda India has been launching in the last two years’ time.</p>
<p>The all new Jazz is everything better, it is bigger, more spacious, more feature laden and most importantly is coming to India along with its first time diesel avatar and with an expected competitive price tag. The resurrected Jazz is expected to give a great scare to the existing highly popular premium hatchback models in India. It is also expected to give stern competition to the super successful Hyundai Elite i20 which is witnessing immense demands and is currently reining the premium hatchback segment in India.</p>

<p>Here’s a brief look at how the Honda Jazz is all set to lock its horns with the Hyundai Elite i20:</p>
<p>The Hyundai Elite i20 is a really stunning car with a smart and up-class design language based on Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy which is much praised by the world’s audience. The Elite i20 really has a world-class appeal braced with highly stylized features including wraparound headlights, front grille, bold character lines and attractive tail lights. The highly feature-rich and plush interiors of the car offers ergonomically designed seating arrangements, 2-DIN audio system with 1 GB memory, fully automatic climate control with purifying lonizer and a host of other features. The Elite i20 comes in both petrol and diesel versions are powered by a 1.2 liter petrol and 1.5 liter diesel engines.</p>
<p>The all new Honda Jazz comes with extensive exterior and interior upgrades. The exceptionally well-design cabin of the previous Jazz now gets more jazzed up along with added new equipments in order to fight it out with the feature-rich new Hyundai i20. The Jazz is thus is expected to come with a long list of creature comfort features to pose as an attractive buy. The Jazz will also come in both petrol and diesel avatars, and while the petrol version is expected to be powered by either a 1.5 liter i-VTEC or a 1.2 liter i-VTEC unit, the diesel variants will feature Honda’s highly popular 1.5 liter i-DTEC engine that powers the Amaze compact sedan and the new City sedan.</p>
<p>Once the new Honda Jazz launches in India, it will be very interesting to watch it fight with the Hyundai i20 Elite and see which one actually wins.</p>

<p>Among the many available crossover models in the market, are the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4 – both coming from two Japanese car giants and both are very popular. Which one would you choose?</p>
<p>If you are a knowledgeable car enthusiast, then you already know that the CR-V is superior to the RAV4 in many aspects. However, there are many important facts that can make you go for the Toyota RAV4. Let’s check out both of them.</p>
<p>The Honda CR-V has come in its new refreshed 2015 model with some exterior and interior updates to make it look fresh and more appealing. It is more of a function centric vehicle with good handling, ground clearance and fuel efficiency.</p>
<p>On the other hand, the Toyota RAV4 hasn’t changed much in a last couple of years. It does look smart and quite appealing it could really do a makeover, which is expected quite soon. This vehicle is known for its safety and reliability factors like most Toyota vehicles.</p>
<p>Driving pleasure is not really the domain of both these crossovers. The Toyota RAC4 is powered by a 4-cylinder motor that generates 176 hp and is mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission. It offers easy car-like handling and comfortable ride.</p>

<p>The Honda CR-V is quite similar, but offer tad better handling and maneuverability. It gets a new 2.4 liter mill mated to a CVT. The new CR-V also offers better fuel efficiency.</p>
<p>On the inside, though technically the RAV4 has more cabin space, the CR-V’s interiors feel more roomy and airy. Honda’s smart foldable seats do wonders in making the cabin very flexible, while also offering more utility spaces. However, in terms of ride quality and material quality, the RAV4 wins over its rival. Toyota has significantly refined the RAV4’s latest model, although its engine is still quite audible.</p>
<p>Both the vehicles offer great safety measures, but the CR-V is more preferred here. The RAV4 also got five star safety ratings in its kitty, so it is not to be neglected.</p>
<p>When it comes to value for money proposition, then the Toyota RAV4 is the choice with its better feature lists. Toyota RAV4 offers a premium JBL audio system, while the Honda CR-V offers a top interface which feels superior to the top Entune touchscreen of the RAV4.</p>
<p>Though, neither of these two crossover models have mind blowing things on offers either in terms of styling or in terms of performance, yet the Honda CR-V does manage to win over the RAV4 in some aspects.</p>

But this is not going to be an easy one for the France based car maker specifically when it has already lost prime mover&#8217;s advantage to Honda Mobilio and Toyota Innova recently. Let take a close look as to whether this car is going to occupy a place amongst its competitors in terms of specifications and features.</p>

<p>Space and Size:</p>
<p>What is most noticeable in these cars is the size and capacity and in this discussion it is clearly evident that Renault has performed well. The length and height ranges between 4,498mm and 1,682mm which is approximately the same as that of Toyota Innova and Honda Mobilio. However, in the domain of wheelbase directly correlated to the inner space, the Renault Lodgy has a significant length and has outperformed its rivals. The wheelbase is 60 mm longer than Innova at 2,810 mm and longer than Mobilio at 150 mm. The width is considerably fine and is only about 9 mm narrower than Innova. As per the discussion, it seems that Innova has gained a nominal edge over Lodgy but a real world test is required to get an understanding on the space each of them have.</p>

<p>Both Renault Lodgy as well as Toyota Innova is backed by diesel power plants while the Honda Mobilio has both diesel and petrol. Both the cars, Renault and Honda are available with a 1.5 litre diesel mill however the former is known to generate more power and torque. Mobilio generates 100 PS of power with 200 Nm torque against Lodgy which churns out 110 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque. Alike Renault&#8217;s Duster Lodgy too will come in 85 PS engine. Toyota&#8217;s engine has the capacity to generate power of 102PS and torque of 200 Nm. Amongst the three, Renault Lodgy is generating maximum power and considering the fact that is based on the same Duster&#8217;s platform, it is expected to weigh around 1400 Kg which is lighter than Innova but heavier than Mobilio.</p>

<p>Price and Fuel Efficiency:</p>
<p>The segment of the car is not important as its fuel efficiency is. Honda tops the list in this domain, all because of the ARAI which has claimed efficiency of 24.2 kmpl for diesel. In spite of being lower in the domain of efficiency, Innova has managed to acquire a satisfactory place in the sales chart. Innova, as per Toyota, offers an overall efficiency of around 13.31 kmpl. Renualt Lodgy lies in between these two with the ARAI claimed efficiency of 19098 kmpl for 110 PS and efficiency of 24.04 kmpl for 85 PS.</p>
<p>Since Lodgy has not been unveiled officially in the market, there is no fixed price decided but Renault confirms that it is going to be competitively priced. It is expected to be around 8 Lakh for the base model of 85 PS while the top 110 PS RxZ model will be around 12 Lakhs. Innova was launched at Rs. 12.29 Lakhs with the top model at Rs. 15.81 Lakhs. Mobilio is considerably cheaper amongst the lot as far as it starting price is concerned as it is priced at Rs. 6.75 Lakhs.</p>

There are other MPVs from other auto companies which have also entered the market recently. The Honda Mobilio and Maruti Ertiga are some new models in the MPV segment. With the help of Lodgy model, Renault is focusing to have good market share. In it’s another model Duster, which is a huge hit in the market, Renault has got a good share and the same is expected from the Lodgy model also. The style and design of the Lodgy model is expected to do well in the MPV segment of India.</p>

<p>Another MPV Honda Mobilio was released on 23<sup>rd</sup> July in India. It is available in three different models with the option of Petrol and Diesel fuel. Hence, the price of the model was also kept on a bit higher side. If we talk about engines of both the rivals the comparison will be more interesting. The Lodgy from Renault has a 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine. The engine provides two tunes and churn 85PS and 110PS. In total it is available in different seven variants. Out of these four variants are available with 85PS and three are available with 110PS. The Honda Mobilio has 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel engine as well as 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol engine. The model is provided with 100PS@3600rp, by this diesel engine. It provides maximum torque of 200Nm@1750rpm. The petrol engine of the car provides 119PS@6600rpm with the maximum, torque of 145Nm@4600rpm. This MPV has five speed manual transmission in both the variants.</p>
<p>On the other hand, Honda Mobilio packs 1.5 L i-DTEC diesel engine and 1.5 L i-VTEC petrol engine. The diesel engine of the Mobilio delivers 100PS @3,600rpm, maximum torque of 200Nm @1,750rpm and the petrol model promises to churn out a maximum power of 119PS @6,600rpm, maximum torque of 145Nm @4,600rpm. Both the engines come mated to a five-speed manual transmission.</p>

<p>If the size of the vehicle is checked, the Lodgy from Renault is 2810 mm wheelbase leads the competition. The length of Lodgy is 4498 mm and width is 1751 mm. The height of the vehicle is 1697 mm. The Mobilio from Honda is 4386 mm long and 1683 mm wide which is on the wheelbase of 2652mm. The height of Mobilio is 1603mm.</p>
<p>If the seating capacity is compared the Lodgy has two variants which have seven and eight seat capacity. While the Mobilio is available with seven seating capacity only.</p>
<p>So far as fuel efficiency is concerned, Mobilio is leading. It has mileage of 24 kmpl for diesel model and 16.5 kmpl for petrol version. The Renault Lodgy offers 19.98 kmpl in the category of 110PS and 21.04 kmpl with 85PS trim. Hence, both the MPVs have quite lucrative features which make them worth. It all depends on one’s requirement to decide which one will be suitable to him.</p>

<p>In the Indian auto market, the models in MPV segment are performing very well and hence, the market for these models is also increasing significantly. The French company Renault has launched its new model Lodgy in the same segment of MPV where one of its model Duster has got tremendous success. The company is much eager to repeat the history and capture more market share in this segment. But this time the game seems bit changes and the market is not that simple for the company. There is already fierce competition between the Japanese auto giants Toyota and Honda with their Innova, and Mobilio models are there in the market. Hence, comparison of features and specifications of all these models is very interesting.</p>
<p>The model is much known for its size and pace especially in the segment of an MPV. However, in size the Renault is leading as it has 4498 mm length, and 1682 mm height while with Toyota Innova the length is 4585 mm and height 1760 mm, the Honda Mobilio is with 4386 mm length and 1603 mm height. The Renault Lodgy has a width of 1751 mm which is 9 mm less than Toyota Innova and 68 mm more than Honda Mobilio.</p>
<p>While checking the design and exterior Mobilio is leading with a different look in the MPV market of India. It looks more of a personal than a commercial vehicle. However, as per its design it suits to every requirement and hence it is a perfect MPV.  On the other side, the Toyota Innova has some with a new design that also has attracted many customers. So far as the Lodgy is concerned the look of it has appealed to many MPV lovers as it seems a perfect MPV from its look.</p>
<p>Toyota Innova and Renault Lodgy are available with diesel variants while Honda Mobilio is available in petrol as well as diesel engines, and therefore it appeals to both types of engine lovers. From all the three vehicles, Renault Lodgy is known as with the most powerful engine. The overall Lodgy is comparatively lighter in weight than Innova with 1400 Kilogram, but it is heavier than the Mobilio from Honda.</p>

The newest addition is the fitment of stop or start engine button, and the other intriguing upgrades are rear power socket, reverse parking sensors, new state-of-the art music system and electrically adjustable mirrors. The car moves with an impressive fuel-efficiency power of 20.85kmpl for the petrol model and the diesel vehicle gives 26.59kmpl.</p>
<p>The new Amaze is feature rich and the desirable traits are visible on new power foldable outer rear view mirrors, and professionally sculpted and classy looking white illumination speedometer. The interiors are as refined as ever with a state-of-the art 15.7 cm touch screen, fitted with AM/FM, MP3, i-Pod, Aux, USB and Bluetooth connectivity. The navigation system has Bluetooth music play, address book, dialing and answering history.</p>
<p>Upgraded details of 2015 Swift Dzire is fascinating, and the Executive Director of the sales and marketing division, Kalsi R.S commented on the car, saying, ‘’the increased fuel-efficiency is acquired by the compact combustion chamber and also higher compression ratio of the gasoline power train. The innovative thermal management system inserted into the diesel car and lesser friction output from the engine oil and also re-engineered fuel injection system aids the diesel vehicle to heat up at a constant rate and at the same time lower friction loss.</p>

We are thoroughly satisfied to launch the new CNG Amaze, it is eco-friendly and fuel-efficient at the same time.’’</p>
<p>Maruti Suzuki is among the first to conquer the compact sedan market with Swift Dzire, and the popularity of it was overshadowed all of a sudden by Honda Amaze. It is a key profit player for the company along with the all new City. With regard to exterior styling Swift Dzire and Amaze are equally attractive and so are the interiors of both cars, Amaze however offers a greater interior decor and luxury impact.</p>
<p>The two cars are equally proficient on the mileage front as well, Amaze was earlier ahead of Swift Dzire, but now Maruti Suzuki has achieved a higher mileage outcome on the new model and the diesel car churns 26.59 kmpl, similar to 25.8kmpl offered by diesel Amaze.</p>

<p>The country’s leading car maker, Maruti Suzuki launched its Ciaz in October this year which primarily eyes on dethroning the City again. The Ciaz, unlike Maruti’s previous premium segment attempts is an instant success and is truly a superior car with a reasonable price.</p>
<p>Now, the Maruti Ciaz has successfully beaten the Honda City in October sales, but the City bounced back to the top in November again.</p>

<p><strong>Exterior Design</strong></p>
<p>The new-gen Honda City is based on H-design language with meaner and leaner looks along with radical design cues for a fresh sporty appeal. The City has evolved through 4 generations to reach this smart and appealing design language.</p>
<p>The entirely new Maruti Ciaz gets simple lines and a sober design that makes it look more massive. It flaunts a majestic grill and smooth character lines for matured, rather conventional look. However, its overall design appeal is nowhere close its super stunning concept model.</p>

<p>Being a patent Honda car, the City offers a superb quality and stylish cabin which is its advantage over the Ciaz. Both the City and the Ciaz offers great fabric and leather upholstery depending on the model trim.</p>
<p>The Ciaz however, gets a larger 7 inch infotainment screen as against City’s 5 inch display. Ciaz is also better equipped with rear A.C vents which the City doesn’t offer.</p>
<p><strong>Dimensions</strong></p>
<p>Here, the Maruti Ciaz is a clear winner. The Ciaz is 4490 mm long, 1730 mm wide and 1485 mm tall. It is the largest sedan in its segment and offers class leading space.</p>
<p>The City measures 4400 mm long, 1695 mm wide and 1495 mm tall.</p>
<p><strong>Engines</strong></p>
<p>The City gets the popular 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol generating 117.3bhp, while the 1.5 i-DTEC diesel mill offers 98.5bhp.</p>
<p>The Ciaz is less powerful and offers 90.7bhp in its petrol and 88.5bhp in its diesel versions.</p>
<p>In terms of fuel efficiency though, the Ciaz’s 1.3 DDiS diesel motor offers the industry best mileage of 26.3 kmpl as against City’s 25.1 kmpl.</p>
<p><strong>Price</strong></p>
<p>The Maruti Ciaz is the more affordable one with a starting tag of Rs. 6.99 lakhs, while the base Honda City is priced at Rs. 7.19 lakhs.</p>

<p>Considering all the aspects it can be surely said that the Maruti Ciaz has great potentials to beat the Honda City, though the City is still ahead in terms of safety, quality and style.</p>
