Honda Cars India is doing great in the domestic market. It has various products for the Indian population. With the latest generation of Honda City, the company took the competition in the sedan segment to the next level. Also, Honda recently launched the Honda Mobilio which is expected to do some great business for the Japanese. If we talk about the compact cars segment, Honda Brio is the player from the Japanese side. Honda has always been a technology freak. It had most of the technologies way before any other car company. An example of it is the Honda CR-Z. Yeah, you might haven’t heard of it ever before.

Honda CR-Z is a compact car, well, to be precise it is compact sports hybrid vehicle, designed by Honda. The CR-Z is currently being sold in various markets like Japan (obviously), North America, Europe, South Africa, Malaysia and many more. But should Honda bring the CR-Z in the Indian car market? We don’t thing that would be a good decision, at least, not now.

The Honda CR-Z looks pretty modern and sporty and a car from the future. As it is built by the Japanese in Japan, therefore, it has got a different kind of design philosophy. You see, the front end of the CR-Z has got this angular headlamps and the bumper which has got very sharp and blunt lines. It looks nice, undoubtedly, but we think it is something odd for the Indian taste. It is something which suits best for Japan. The rear end of the CR-Z, though, has big tail lamps and a big windshield which covers up a lot of the portion of the car’s body. Perhaps, we would be digest the rear design.

The Honda CR-Z, which is being sold in various international markets, is currently being powered by a 1.5 litre i-VTEC SOHC inline 4 cylinder engine which is tuned to produce a max power output of 122 bhp at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 174 Nm at just 1000-1500 rpm. The numbers are astounding. Also, the engine is integrated with the Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid-electric system. It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission system and a CVT is also available. The petrol motor here produces 111 bhp while the rest is handled by the electric motor. Honda did some tweaks in the CR-Z, which includes some cosmetic changes too, and put in a more powerful electric motor. Consequently, the power output increased to 130 bhp.

We do not doubt the capability of the CR-Z. It is a great car and it is definitely selling in good numbers. But for the Indian market it would be too much for now. Ours is a market in which the price of the car plays a very significant role in its success or failure. And, perhaps, we are not ready for a true hybrid vehicle neither are the Indian conditions. Honda should invest in the CR-Z for India but it should be its strategy for the future when the people here sees a need for a hybrid.

Honda is a major automobile manufacturer based in Japan. And we know that the Japanese have always had a way with the technology. Somehow, they are always ahead in time in terms of technology. It was this character of the Japanese which allowed Honda to launch some great cars in the Indian car market.

Honda City is perhaps, the most sold car in India from Honda. This car has crossed several generations in its whole production life. Currently it is in its 6th generation. A few months ago Honda launched this new generation Honda City in India which flooded the Honda showrooms with many buyers. Honda City is currently available in 2 engine variants: a new 1.5 litre Earth Dreams i-DTEC diesel engine which is turbocharged and a 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol engine which has been borrowed from the previous generation City but has been worked up on and has been refined. Honda City diesel is the more fuel efficient car in its segment by churning out a mileage of 26 kmpl (ARAI).

The second car which Honda launched in India and it topped the sales charts is the Honda CR-V. It was a one of its kind SUV available in India at the time of its launch. It had an enormous road presence and was an attractive piece of metal. The Honda CR-V ruled the Indian roads with its heavy and muscular build and wide tyres. People loved the CR-V and it soon became a dream SUV of the enthusiasts. After years of dictatorship, Honda launched a new variant of the CR-V in India which stands up against some of the new but extremely good players like the Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra XUV and Tata Aria. The new CR-V is more modern and masculine than its predecessor but Honda has managed to keep the image of the previous CR-V. Still, the Honda CR-V is one hell of an SUV.

Last but not the least, it is the Honda Amaze which makes it to our list of top 3 cars of Honda. The Honda Amaze was launched in India a few years ago.  It was the first car of Honda in India to have a diesel engine. Honda really played its trump card here. No one was expecting Honda to bring in a diesel car. And this diesel engine the best which Honda could equip the Amaze. It is a 1.5 litre engine which gives a claimed mileage of 25 kpl. Honda Amaze being a compact sedan was targeted for those people for whom the mileage of the car plays a significant role to finalize their decision of buying the car or not. It is also available in a petrol variant which is powered by a 1.2 litre i-VTEC petrol engine. But it is the diesel variant, priced at Rs 5.9 lakhs (ex-showroom), which attracted most of the crowd. Honda Amaze is selling in a good numbers in India and it is being expected to do so for many years ahead.

The hybrid vehicles are the new craze in the global car industry, with increasing consumers leaning on these greatly efficient greener cars. Hybrid vehicles are also the need of the time, as they are easy on the environment. What makes them more alluring is the fact that when it comes to refueling, they are easy on the pocket too. Moreover, the hybrids offer great ride and driving comfort with a more silent and refined cabin. However, the one point that most of the hybrids of the day are not good in is styling. Usually these great vehicles sport a not so stunning style that the modern car buyers are after. All the innovation of the hybrid cars’ seem to be under their hoods and not meant to be for the eyes.

However, Honda decided to go against this trend. The Japanese car maker known for its swanky styling knows that it is just the dawn for the hybrids and not styling them properly will be a foolhardy. When one looks at the new Honda CR-Z, one can’t think of it as anything other than a swanky fossil fuel sipping conventional car. That’s because it has a sleek and neat hatchback body. The 2014 Honda CR-Z looks distinctly sharp, charming and bold in the face and is hard to be taken as a complete hybrid car. The company has adopted a sports car inspired front fascia styling for this hybrid to make it look greatly stunning. Bold molded side panels as well as a unique rear design complete the alluring design of the CR-Z. Honda Cars’ wing in Philippines has launched its hybrid sports car known as the CR-Z, which stands for Compact Renaissance Zero in Taguig on 5th of August, 2013. Honda Philippines launches its green sports car even when the country’s government is yet to decide on the incenties for the green cars.

The President and General Manager at Honda Cars Philippines, Tatsuya Natsume while speaking during the launch, said that the customers’ unending interest as well as the very positive market appreciation has made this launch possible.

Honda had announced the previous year that the company will debut its very own hybrid car in Philippines, once the country’s government passes the bills that will grants tax incentives to the car makers and importers of the alternative fuel vehicles in order to these cars affordable for the general mass.

The Japanese luxury car major received very enthusiastic response from the Philippine consumers, when the CR-Z Mugen Concept was showcased at the 2012 Philippine International Motor show in 2012. Honda Cars announced in April, 2013 that it would go ahead with the car’s launch in the market despite the fact that the hybrid law is still pending.

Natsume told the media personals media personal during the launch even that apart from thinking about the hybrid law, Honda considered catering to the demands of the motor enthusiasts in Philippines. Thus, the company decided to launch the car before it was expected to arrive.

The Honda CR-Z Sports Hybrid Coupe will be available in three variants in Philippine market; namely the Standard, Modulo and Mugen. Under the hood, the Honda CR-Z is equipped with a 1.5 litre i-VTEC motor that is coupled with the compact and light Motor Assist hybrid electric system.

The CR-Z offers three driving modes, namely the Normal, Econ and Sport driving mode. Natsume added that the Honda CR-Z is an excellent sporty coupe that is meant to prove that hybrid cars are fun to drive. Honda is very proud to present its latest offering that will offer a peerless driving experience and cater to the most varying tastes of the modern market.

He further revealed that since the month of April, Honda has already received pre-booking for almost 100 units of the CR-Z. While 50 percent of the registered booking are for the Standard model, Modulo and Mugen models received 30 and 20 percent of the bookings respectively. The Honda CR-Z has a price range of between P1.39 million and P1.95 million.

Natsume revealed that the company will start the delivery of the CR-Z from 17th of August, while the car will also be available in dealerships in the same time.  He added by saying that post its arrival in the showrooms the company is expecting much more bookings for the car.

Honda Cars is also very keen to grow in the potential car market of Philippines, as Natsume said that the company is interested in growing as much as the Philippine market is going to grow, and Honda is all prepared for that as well.

The exterior modifications are, a newly designed 16 inch alloy wheel, and new LED daytime running lights, a new rear diffuser for improved aerodynamics and an addition of two new colour options; Passion Berry Pearl and Polished Metal Metallic. The additional colour options will provide a brighter and polished exterior. The driver’s mirror is expanded for better view.

The interiors are fitted with new standard features to fulfil the enhanced quality demands of the public. The interiors is fitted with Bluetooth connectivity, rear view camera, and expanded view driver’s mirror, and the upgraded EX trim gets automatic HID headlights, LED running lights, premium audio system, and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The car also comes with optional features which include two-tone seats, Pandora Interface, SMS text message function, and Honda satellite-linked navigation system.

The New Honda CR-V comes with a supremely efficient 1.5 litre, 16 valve i-VTEC four-cylinder petrol engine with a shockingly impressive horse power between 7bhp to 119bhp. The engine is also fitted with a high electro power of 20 Bhp. The engine is fitted to a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox.

Honda’s has always emphasised on safety, not only for drivers but also other vehicle passengers and pedestrians. The increase in vehicular traffic in highly populated countries has increased the requirement for additional safety features from many angles.
