Honda Motor has revealed the UNI-CUB β on 14^th of November, 2013 in Japan. UNI-CUB is an entirely new way of personal mobility and the company has enhanced the device’s compatibility to make it more practical for broad-scale consumers.

The UNI-CUB was first launched by the car major back in the month of May 2012 as a new innovative device to enable a convenient personal mobility system that comes with balance control technology and multi-direction driving wheel system based on Honda’s Omni Traction Drive technology that stems from the company’s research on the humanoid robots. All these technologies together enable the UNI-CUB rider to direct the device to the various directions by simply shifting his body weight and leaning towards the desired direction. UNI-CUB is a very compact design that is makes it easier to move it other people and allows personal mobility in indoor places like offices and commercial places.

From the month of June 2012, Honda is constantly testing the potential convenience and practicality of the UNI-CUB through a testing procedure that is carried out in association with the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan). As a part of real world testing, the innovative device has been utilized by many Miraikan staff for basic moving around within the Museum and also by many visitors belonging to various age groups moving inside the facility.

Honda developed the more advanced UNI-CUB β by studying and including the features that were thought to be required by this testing. With the UNI-CUB β, Honda has gone ahead another step closer to understand its business practicability. Honda will be offering the UNI-CUB β to various organizations by leasing out the device for personal usage.

The new UNI-CUB β is better in many ways and offers a more compact and lighter body as against the previous model. The model’s seating position is also lowered to make it more convenient for a wider range of consumers.

The UNI-CUB β has been also enhanced in terms of design and comfort. Honda has incorporated a new more user friendly design that has enhanced the connection of the user to the device. Moreover, Honda has also included some of materials to make the seating arrangement more comfortable for the user. Thus it has also become more comfortable. The usage of soft materials will also enable to have a less impact when the UNI-CUB β accidentally hits other people and things.

The device has also improved in terms of usability as a stand function has been incorporated to enable people easily get on and off the device. This function also let people use the device as a simple sitting stool when not in use.

Honda will display the UNI-CUB β at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show that begins on 20^th November. Test riding of the device is also to be scheduled by the company. The UNI-CUB β is powered by a Lithium-ion battery and has a maximum speed of 6 kilometers per hour.

The 2013 Tokyo Motor Show is currently a platform for the automakers to showcase green ideas and spreading the green message to become more eco-conscious in order to save the world. While the sight of a small boy peeing may seem cute to some, does not really give the idea of a greener world. However, the Japanese auto giant, Honda Motor thought of this as an ideal image to showcase its green car concept.

The Japanese luxury car maker had a huge 6 foot 6 inches tall plastic model of the famed ‘Manneken Pis’, the bronze sculpture of a child urinating into a fountain, as a part of Honda’s display at the ongoing Tokyo auto show.

This huge statue is popular in Japan as the ‘Piss Boy’ and it is utilized by Honda to showcase the mechanism of the fuel cell technology, and calls it ‘Hydrogen Boy’.

The plastic statue demonstrates the Fuel Cell technology to the audience and actually displays how the combination of hydrogen and oxygen creates power and makes water as a bi-product. The Hydrogen boy has got a hydrogen tank strapped onto his
back. A small boy’s recorded voice explains in Japanese from within the statue that when hydrogen as well as oxygen go inside the fuel cell these react chemically to produce power. He declares that only water is emitted, and happily pees away in the pool.

Honda announced on 21^st of November that the company will bring out a fuel cell vehicle for the mass market in the year 2015. The same announcement was voiced by Honda’s home rival, Toyota on 20^th of November. As, the auto giants promise to bring out their respective hydrogen fuel cell cars in 2015, it is expected that this particular segment will experience massive competition. As both these Japanese auto makers have also said that they have managed to make the fuel cell vehicle much more affordable than before, it can also be hoped that the prices of the FCEVs (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles) will see a further slash due to increasing competition.

The Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles are said to be the ultimate green cars of the near future, as they use the power of natural gases found in the atmosphere, gets fueled by hydrogen that is abundant in our atmosphere and emits only water vapor from its exhaust pipe. The FCEV also do not use a drop of any fossil fuel and can also use the compressed hydrogen that is produced by recycle methods. Moreover, the FCEVs have great efficiency and offer great powerful on-road performance. The FCEVs that are now being developed by the global giants claim that they can offer a range as much as almost 5 times as compared against the range of the most competent battery operated EVs. The FCEVs can be refueled in a matter of few minutes, while the EVs take hours to recharge their batteries.

The Japanese luxury auto brand Honda intends to grow big banking on its small cars in the domestic car market. According to the market study, the Japanese car market is going to have a massive demand for the mini cars that are highly fuel efficient. The fuel efficient and low cost mini cars are going to the upcoming trend of the Japanese market, as the car consumers want to go easy on their pockets while flaunting their cool and trendy looking new mini cars. And, Honda wants to cash on this growing demand of its home front and wishes to overthrow the prominent mini car makers of the market, such as Suzuki Corporation and Toyota Daihatsu brand. The new era of the Honda mini cars is about to start with this year’s Tokyo Motor Show.

Honda is all braced up to showcase its brand new products at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show that is going to commence on 20^th of November, this year. The Japanese car maker has described the S660 Concept as an open top, mini sports car.

However, though it may seem that the S660 Concept is the long pending Honda S2000 replacer, it is better to be mentioned that this point, that this car is nothing of that sort. The S660 Concept is rather mini sports car with a more fun element that is supposed to rival the speculated the all new Suzuki Cappuccino in the car market of Japan.

The S660 Concept is designed based on the preference of the Japanese car consumers. This mini car will have its engine placed in the middle of the car and will have a rear wheel drive system. The small cars that are known as Kei car in Japan get powered by a below 660cc engine and the S660 will also be powered by a similar 3 cylinder motor delivering around 64bhp. The car’s compact engine will be mated to a CVT transmission gearbox.

The Honda S660 is expected to enter production in the year 2015 and it is going to be Japan exclusive model. Though strictly Japan spec initially, the S660 is expected to be export to few other car markets at a later stage, equipped with a 1.0 liter turbocharged motor.

Being a small car specialist, Suzuki is also gearing up for some major action, though the company hasn’t revealed anything as yet. The Japanese company is known to be reviving its Cappuccino brand and a concept model is speculated to be unveiled at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show as well. Launched back in 1991, the Suzuki Cappuccino had a patent 660cc engine that delivered 63bhp of power, something that is exactly in demand right now.

Thus, the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show will be the battle arena of the Japanese car majors displaying mini fuel efficient cars to charm the domestic car audience.

The SUV segment is becoming dominant in India, car magazines and websites are splashed with a range of new upcoming SUV’s. The latest launches are Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport. Maruti Suzuki is working on XA Alpha and Hyundai on compact mini SUV. Now there is news of Honda manufacturing a new SUV with a refined urban material.

The making of a new urban SUV has been confirmed by Honda, and will be revealed during the prestigious Tokyo Motor Show of 2013. The concept car was displayed to the public at a highly acclaimed auto event called Detroit motor show. The news of Honda building a SUV is not new; there were reports of the car being in production stage. Car enthusiasts have captured the spied car doing its rounds on German streets.

The secret behind the exotic appeal of new City is its design base adopted from next-gen Jazz. The same will follow for Honda’s urban SUV, Indian streets are now filled with new SUV’s, and one can imagine the competition levels in this segment. The Honda Urban SUV will compete fiercely with Hyundai mini SUV, Maruti Suzuki XA Alpha, Nissan Terrano, Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport.

Those who have witnessed the concept car at the Detroit Motor show, the same design cues will be revealed with the urban SUV at the upcoming Tokyo motor event. There will be loads of cutting-edge curves and lines thrown on the exteriors, the car will portray a wide stance and low roof line. The company has described the characteristics of the car as roomy and efficient, and the other phrase is sporty and dynamic. During the Tokyo Motor show the car will measure above four meters, and will be around 4300milli meters long. Sources claim that the car will arrive in a below four meter package, but information on overall length has not yet been revealed.

For international segments, the car will be equipped with a powerful 1.6 liter diesel mill. The same engine is used in Jazz, and Civic. The transmission choices will be similar to next-gen City or Jazz. The petrol version of compact SUV will have a 1.5 liter engine capacity with iVTEC technology and with the diesel one is 1.5 liter iDTEC diesel engine with turbo technology.

The Urban SUV will be built in its Japanese headquartered firm, and it will be a rigid piece with herds of components. The theme behind the design of the car is interesting, called ‘’man-maximum machine-minimum’’. The insides will be tailored with premium upholstery, and also has a catchy phrase to it called ‘Magic Seats’ also found in Jazz. The production variant of the car will first arrive in Japanese markets this year, followed by India, European and North American markets.

Honda Urban SUV is an exciting model to watch out for, with its creatively designed exteriors which appears magnificently compact. The sides and front have neat free flowing lines and creases. Honda Motor is all set to increase its production for the mini cars for its domestic car market of Japan. The Japanese luxury car maker is forecasting that almost half of the company’s total number of vehicles sales in the Japanese market this year will be that of the mini cars. The car market of Japan is increasingly rising on the demand for fuel efficient, low cost mini cars. Thus, in order to cater to the increasing market demands, Honda is to introduce a mini sports car ever since the year 1996.

Honda is all set to unveil its S660 mini sports concept car at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show in November, 2013, following which the car is to go on sale in 2014. The S660 mini sports car concept’s exterior designer, Ryo Sugiura told the media personals that this two-seater mini car will be a convertible.

In order to answer the market demands, Honda plans to bring out a slew of 6 mini cars in Japan by the year 2015, and the S660 will be one among these. With this range of new small cars Honda is going to give stiff competition to the small car specialists of the market, namely Suzuki Motor Corporation and Daihatsu Motor, who hold around 40 percent of market shares in Japan.

According to the market experts, the demands for the mini cars are expected to increase this year even as the total car market demands has decreased after the government incentives have ceased.

Sugiura says that the highest selling point of the mini cars is the cost efficiency. While declining to comment on the expected price point for the S660, he said that this car’s attraction will be primarily for the sports car lovers.

The mini cars are known as the Kei cars in the Japanese market, and are powered by compact engines of less than 660cc and also enjoy tax benefits.

Honda had an open hooded mini sports car, called the Beat, from the year 1991 to 1996 in the Japanese car market, with a price tag of ¥1.39 million.

Daihatsu, which is Toyota subsidiary, had a mini sports car, Copen that ceased to exist in 2012. Now, the company has plans to launch a new mini car model in 2014.

Honda unveiled its N-Box mini car range back in 2011 and increased its market shares in the category by almost double in a year’s time.

As Daihatsu’s market shares have fallen a bit, Honda wishes to boost its mini car sales further by the introduction of new models and overtake Daihatsu. Suzuki also plans to boost its market shares that accounted for 30 percent.

Honda will also introduce its NSX sports car with the inclusion of the hybrid technology. The Japanese car giant will also launch a new N-series mini wagon at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show that is about to begin on 20^th of November and continue till 1^st of December.
