Honda Cars India has delighted the Indian crowd with the launch of Accord, and for some amazing news, the new 2015 model will launch in the country sometime in mid 2015. Accord is a plush dream car to own, but it was not in the scene at all, the company discontinued the sales of the model along with Civic and Accord sometime ago, and the vanished Accord will resurface again in 2015.

Honda is one of the largest manufacturers in India thanks to the sales of the Amaze sedan and then the addition of a diesel engine to the Honda City. While these models have been doing well, there are some other models that weren’t as successful in the market. 2013 Honda Accord

The Honda Accord will reach showrooms in 2015 and will add even more features to the luxury sedan. The eighth generation wasn’t able to sell much and the V6 variant hardly sold any units. It will compete with other luxury sedans like the Volkswagen Passat and Skoda Superb. This segment is dominated by the Skoda Superb and considering what it offers, it is a hard to beat car. Honda would have a slight edge with their wide sales and service network though. They are also known to have an edge over others in terms of reliability.

In international market, it is offered as a sedan, coupe, hybrid and plug in hybrid but we won’t see all of them. Like earlier we will get the sedan and maybe the hybrid. The previous generation Accord was powered by a 2.4 litre petrol engine which generated a peak power of 185 bhp and featured Honda’s Earth Dreams technology emphasising on efficiency. There was also another engine on offer but very few people went for it. It was the 3.5 litre V6 model for the enthusiasts. It generated a peak power of 278 bhp and peak torque of 342 Nm but was just as thirsty as the numbers suggest.

It is also being said that it might get a diesel option when it is launched in India. Though we aren’t very sure about it as people have started to move away from diesel engines due to the increasing fuel prices. It is hard to suggest anything for now. This ninth generation Accord looks very much similar to the eighth generation car except for a few improvements. The headlamps look wider and sharper and the grille on front has been redesigned to go with the sharper profile.

Honda Civic has been a successful model in the Indian market and it continued selling strong even years after its launch. But they have decided not to launch the new model because apparently the people at Honda don’t see a future for the car in India. It was a decent performer with looks that were futuristic for the time when it came out first. Honda is also going to launch a new MPV called the Mobilio. This new MPV is based on the Brio platform and will be powered by the engines from Honda City.

After record performance of its models Amaze, Brio and sedan City, Japanese Honda has managed to gain a place among top five carmakers in India during 2014. These cars gained popularity since they were able to meet sudden spurt in demand for diesel cars due to rise in petrol prices. Even though Honda’s crossover car CR-V which is quite popular in European markets did not contribute much to overall sales the Amaze and City helped increase Honda’s profits by nearly 84 percent in March 2014 followed by 30 percent in 2014 April. Since the latest Honda Civic is in premium price range will not be launched in India though its last version was popular due to design features and performance.  However latest face-lifted version of Honda Accord which is now in ninth generation will be launched during first quarter of 2015. The firm made a killing with both its new models last year due to sudden spurt in demand for diesel cars due to rising petrol fuel prices therefore it is expected that sooner or later Honda may introduce a diesel variant of ninth generation Accord at a later point of time. The diesel version may have same engine as Honda City with 1.5 liter i-DTEC engine which can provide output of 100 PS followed by 200 Nm of torque which coupled with two petrol variants will give the Accord an edge over other contemporaries.
