Honda Cars India had earlier announced that the company is going to unveil its new generation model of the Accord premium sedan at the Auto Expo 2016 apart from the much awaited BR-V SUV. On the first day of the Auto Expo, the Japanese car major has unveiled the all new Honda Accord in the Indian car market. The new generation Honda Accord is expected to launch in India later this year marking its re-launch in the country’s auto industry.

The Japanese car major discontinued the Accord premium sedan in India back in 2013 due to very low sales, though once it enjoyed a good position in the country. The all new Honda Accord model that will resurrect the brand in India is in its 9th generation. The all new Accord is expected to be brought into India via the CBU route, and being a fully imported vehicle it will definitely have an expensive tag.

The all new Honda Accord comes with an all-new design language and has become sleeker than before fully dropping the previous boxy look. Its face gets a new neat two-slated grille with a fat chrome strip, smarter new headlights, black lipped front diffuser and sleek new fog lights. On its side profile, the sedan gets sophisticated character lines, chrome garnished window line and sculpted wheel arches. At the rear, the new Accord flaunts large and stretchy stylish tail lights and new bumper design.

The new generation Honda Accord gets a grand looking interior which is sophisticated and premium in quality. It gets a new multi-layered black dashboard design with classy wood inserts. The vehicle’s centre console is neat and smart with multiple display screens and also gets wooden trim that is further accentuated with classy silver trims. Honda Cars India is expected to launch the new-gen Accord in the Indian car market towards the end of this year. The sedan’s new model is expected to be in the range of Rs. 22 lakhs to Rs. 30 lakhs. Post its Indian launch, the all new Accord will go up against the Toyota Camry, Volkswagen Passat, Hyundai Sonata, Chevrolet Cruze and Skoda Superb.

Japanese automobile manufacturer, Honda is getting ready to launch the facelift version of Accord in 2016. In 2014 June, Honda established a regional safety improvement campaign and plans to expand its operations that will now be visible to the globe and it is now called national safety enhancement campaign and the models that will be looked into are those manufactured from 2001 to 2011 and the tested vehicle is Acura, and the issue under investigation is defective front airbag inflator fitted on driver compartment.

Honda is collaborating with Takata to investigate on defective airbags, and the testing sight is frontal airbag inflators fitted on some of the Acura variants sold in eleven territories and states of US such as Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Texas, South Carolina, Mississippi, Louisiana, Hawaii, Georgia, Florida, California and Alabama. The affected vehicles manufactured from 2001 to 2011 are Acura CL, Acura TL, Acura MDX, Ridgeline, Pilot, Odyssey, Element, CR0V, Civic, Accord V6 and Accord fitted with four cylinder engine.

Honda is taking full responsibility for the serious consequences, for some reason there have been defective airbags, which is rather a rare circumstance, taking into consideration, the history of exceptionally safe cars produced by the company.
