Honda has decided to prove its leadership by trying for a Guinness book record. The record that it is planning to set is of the fuel efficiency, titled as “Lowest Fuel Consumption – all 24 contiguous EU countries”. This involves driving on 13,600 Km of drive through various countries of EU. The car will start from Aalst, then move through Belgium and will return back to Aalst after covering the 24 countries of the EU.

The drive for the same has already started on 1 June, 2015 by two R & D employees of the company. The car that is being used for the test is Honda Civic Tourer with its 1.6 Liter i-DTEC engine. Officials at Honda informed that the i-DTEC engine of Civic Tourer has been tested at different tests, and all tests point out the fact that the car’s engine outperforms its declared ability in the real world driving condition. This challenge will help in setting new records for thefuel efficiency based on 25 days of constant driving. The record will measures the efficiency in liters of fuel used per 100km and miles covered per gallon calculated over the entire journey. If successful, this record will be applicable for all variants of cars, including hybrid and electric models as well.

But there are rules that Honda people need to follow in order to recognize the record. For the record to be recognized, each kilometer of the record should be covered by the same two drivers. This essentially means that the two drivers have to be behind the wheel for around 170 hours, clocking around 7.5 hours a day. Moreover, the further requirement for the record says that the car should be a model with no special changes that will give it an unfair advantage. This had been verified by independent witness at the start of the challenge. The third rule is that car should travel only by road, and that is the reason there are only 24 countries in the circuit, excluding the four countries of UK, Cyprus, Malta and Ireland. Also, the tank of the car is to be filled to maximum capacity at every fuel stop. This will ensure that the car does not get any advantage because of reducing weight.

The car is also supposed to record its entry in all the countries and the details of the route etc. to prove their claim. The evidence used for the same will include a fuel logbook, GPS readings, video, photographs and independent witness signatures. The car is fitted with a tracking device to monitor the route, time of the journey and distance in real time.

As per the company’s spokesperson, a lot of planning has gone before the drive. From stocking the car to fitting it with the tracking device, the company has tried to succeed in all parameters. The process might be difficult but if Honda succeeds in this journey, there is a chance that the Civic Tourer with its 1.6 i–DTEC engine will be recorded as the world’s most fuel-efficient car, until someone else decide to defeat it.

Honda Motor is focusing on promoting its new Civic Tourer. The newly launched Honda car is set to create the right impression on the consumers’ minds, and the primary way to do so is with great commercial videos. Honda is already known for its great marketing strategy and its impressive commercials that fine tune the consumers’ outlook on a new Honda machine. After churning out quite a few very impressive commercials that garnered a lot of appreciation, Honda is ready with its latest marketing campaign which focuses on the new Civic Tourer’s interior grace and awesomeness, rather than the usual focus on the exterior looks.

The Japanese car major calls it the “Inner Beauty” campaign and explains that it is a celebration of the hard fact that true beauty is not only skin deep. Or simply put, the beauty of a car is much more than its exterior design appeal. This can be very true for a quality Honda car, as the car maker is known for offering great luxurious premium interiors that not only provide great comfort but are also a treat for the eyes. Honda ensures that its customers enjoy the car fully, and while the exterior swanky design can be flaunted to the onlookers, the superior design on the inside can be thoroughly enjoyed by the owners themselves.

Coming back to the new advertising campaign for the Honda Civic Tourer that concentrates on the car’s beautiful interior design, the campaign was created by Wieden + Kennedy advertising agency. The commercial stresses on the inner beauty of a lot of things before actually coming to the Civic Tourer itself. The advertisement video shows the viewers the inner beautiful view of objects such as a simple golf ball, guitar amp as well as a suitcase. Following the interior view of these objects it is shown how these things actually easily fits inside the new Honda Civic Tourer, and then finally displays the beauty of the car’s interior and the superior craftsmanship of the car’s cabin.

This new advertising campaign on the Honda Civic Tourer is yet to go on air and will be launching as television commercials on 3rd of February. This campaign will also be utilized by print as well as digital advertisements. In order to promote the car on social media, Honda will also have a 5-day Twitter competition which will involve short clips tweets of the ad along with a hidden word related to a prize that the Honda car aficionados can try to win by tweeting back to Honda with the correct word.

The utilization of the social media is the latest addition in Honda’s new marketing strategy that relates to the new age audience. Honda is currently perking up its marketing strategy, as it about to unleash several new products in the global market.

Honda has set itself the target of largely boosting up its global sales including those of the developing car markets and to achieve this, the company is ready with a slew of new cars.

The Honda Civic Tourer is a very efficient and worthy vehicle. This vehicle from the Japanese luxury car maker offers more space than a usual hatchback model, and also offers great sleeker and smooth styling features. However, with its sleeker body it was rather less spacious as compared against the boxy looking counterparts. The new Honda Civic Tourer has addressed this very space issue and in this field it has done pretty well. The Tourer is also very efficient much like the Civic hatchback counterpart. Moreover, the Japanese car major says that its capable Civic Tourer has the most compact design in its own class, and also has the class-leading boot space.

The Honda Civic Tourer is offered in the market in its 4 model trim levels, namely, S, SE Plus, SR and the EX Plus. The Civic Tourer is available in the fuel options of both petrol and diesel. The petrol version is powered by a 1.8 liter petrol engine that has the ability to churn out the max power output of 142bhp. The petrol engine is mated to a gearbox options of a 6 speed manual or AT transmission. On the other hand, the diesel version of the vehicle is driven by a 1.6 liter turbocharged diesel engine that can deliver a max power of 120bhp. This engine is mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox. Although, the new Tourer’s diesel version is much more expensive than the petrol counterpart, Honda Motor expects that about 80 percent of the Tourer buyers will be choosing the diesel model over the petrol. This is because of the diesel version’s great 74.3mpg combined fuel efficiency coupled with the low emission rate of just 99gm per km.

The diesel model is a really good choice. With its great on road performance and high fuel efficiency, it is a truly efficient diesel car. Moreover, the Tourer’s diesel version really represents the refinement that Honda is known for. The vehicle offers a silky drive with negligible noise and vibration as compared to any normal diesel cars. Thus, it is really worth the extra bucks.

Honda has also done a very smart job of improving the Civic Tourer’s interior space. The new redesigned model is longer than its previous model and its rear has been extended by a good nine inches. Apart from this, Honda has also tucked in the fuel tank under the vehicle’s front seats. In this way, the new model has become immensely more spacious now resolving the above mentioned issue to the fullest. Moreover, the boot space of the car has also become huge enough to engulf your large suitcases, loads of aircraft cabin cases and trolley bags. Plus, the new Tourer comes with Honda’s smart foldable rear seats to ensure you easily extend your boot space further.

The new Honda Civic Tourer is not really a head turning vehicle, but for those who prefer practicality, efficiency, space and performance over stunning looks, the Tourer is definitely a winner.

Honda have queued another car in its long list of amazingly featured cars. Honda has come up with a model car – the Civic Tourer that features an all-new adaptive damper system at the rear. The Japanese auto giant released the details of the Honda Civic Tourer recently, well before its official debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, scheduled in September. The preview of the model was given in March in the Motor Show in Geneva, Civic Tourer. It surely doesn’t compromise with its style.

The Civic Tourer is designed for an enjoyable ride in any condition, especially on bumpy roads or conditions where balancing is a bit tough job. The designing and development of the car has been done in Europe, where it is expected to be launched the next year.

The exterior of the Honda Civic Tourer reflects sophistication and sporty spirit. It sports a bold line running all the way from A-pillar not ending before the D-pillar and thus, creates an illusion of a roof line floating in the air. The glass of the rear window is extended towards the rear. The car is very spacious from the inside with luxurious seating, owing to the smart placement of the fuel tank under the seats in the front.

The Tourer will come with one of the two engines, i.e. either 1.8 i-VTEC or the one from the Earth Dreams Technology series – 1.6 i-DTEC. The latter one has been earlier used in the latest CR-V and 5-door Civic from the Honda. But, this would be the first time that a DTEC series engine will be introduced in the European market. Both manual as well as automatic transmission mode will be available with the engine. In fact, the 1.6 i-DTEC has been specially designed and manufactured at the Honda manufacturing facility in the UK.

Moreover, the adaptive Damper System which comes fitted with the Honda Civic Tourer is being introduced in a production car for the very first time. It features 3 modes –normal mode, used in normal urban conditions; comfort mode – used to have a comfortable ride even on bumpy road and last one being the dynamic mode. This imparts an amazing additional stability to the car for a comfortable drive even on the challenging roads when its high-performance handling capabilities are tested.

The car has rear active temper system, which is used for rear axis and has lots of benefits like-less weight, low power consumption, and less cost for consumers. With this the travelling lovers get a boon in their bag as it can be used in various weather conditions be it snowfall, rain or Slippery ground, they get rid of and can enjoy their way.

The latest Honda Civic Tourer was designed and developed by the R&D Team of Honda to lead the creative and technical design process. During the entire development process the emphasis is drawn on the expectations of the customers in Europe and there is a stringent testing process in various harsh conditions.

This car comes with ideas which can be used in future cars. Nevertheless, we know that the agitation and curiosity have a more comfortable and technically well equipped car will lead us to have many more such initiatives being taken by “Honda”.

Honda Motor has revealed its new Civic Tourer prior to its debut at the Frankfurt motor show due next month. The Civic Tourer was designed by the Japanese luxury car maker’s European design studio and is expected to hit the European car market early next year. The dashing Honda Civic Tourer will launch with a choice of engines of the Earth Dreams 1.6 i-DTEC diesel motor and a 1.8 i-VTEC gas motor under its hood. The powerful and efficient engines will be mated to either a manual or an automatic transmission gearbox.

Apart from very powerful engine capabilities, the Honda Civic Tourer also boasts of class leading boot capacity. Tourer features 22 cubic feet of boot space, which further extends to 59 cubic feet when its rear seats are folded up. The vehicle also boasts of having Honda’s magic seats that fold up effortlessly to increase the already commendable cargo space to accommodate various kinds of big and small luggage. Moreover, the Civic Tourer also offers a lot of hidden storage sections under its floor.

The Honda Civic Tourer looks basically and is practically the same car as the Civic with an increased interior and storage capacity to facilitate the various needs of a family. Thus, Honda wanted to offer the general hatchback or sedan consumers with more convenience of a vehicle that can accommodate some more passengers and great amount of cargo while its handling remains similar to that of a regular hatch or sedan. The Honda Civic Tourer is due for its world premiere at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in September, 2013 where the some of the Tourer rival models are also expected to make their debut.

The large project leader at Honda Motor, Adrian Killham who is behind the development of the Civic Tourer said that in order to achieve most of the utilitarian capability on a small car, one has to consider how to put in most of the space in its cabin that inevitable also affects the car’s design. He added that because of the highly practical and smart design concept of the platform of the Civic, the company could freely optimize it to get something new and as an end result, Honda presents a car that has a shape and structure similar to that of a sports car.

Honda has developed the car based on the European specific Civic’s platform and it is going to launch in the European car market. As for the US car market, Honda has kept the company’s essential bread and butter brand Civic’s range pretty limited in the nation. Honda is not even offering the Civic five door hatch version in the US and there are no plan for the company to launch the Civic Tourer either, even though big cars and MPVs are really popular is the US.

As for the Indian car market, though Honda plans to launch 4 new models by 2015, the Civic Tourer is not a part of this upcoming product range.

The Honda Civic Tourer will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in the month of September 2013. However, this car has been partially revealed by the spying eyes of the media. Among the new features of vehicles is revealed a class leading cargo space of 624 liters, which increases up to a whopping 1,668 liters after folding the rear seats.

Honda has kept its Civic Tourer to be basically of the same measurements as the hatchback counterpart of the Civic brand. The Tourer shares the same height, width and wheelbase as its five door hatch avatar. The overall design and shape are also essentially the same. What Honda has done is to add an additional 235mm to the back of the Civic hatchback.

The tailgate of the Civic Tourer swings open high above, which may be problem for the owners of low car parks. And the tailgate is also not electrically powered as Honda explains it is too costly to develop. Once the tailgate is up you get access to the Honda Civic Tourer’s expansive boot space that can take on anything from medium to large suitcases to humongous weekend bags, picnic baskets and more. The Tourer also includes a power point and offers an optional luggage net which can be used while the rear seats are folded up or spread down.

The Tourer does not facilitate one to flip down the rear seats can’t be flipped down from the cargo space, as the release button is located in the cabin, but the vehicle does feature Honda’s acclaimed Magic Seats, which lets you flip up the rear seat bases to get enough space to fit in a bicycle or a wheelchair. As far as the exterior design is concerned as mentioned before, the Civic Tourer borrows’ most from its hatchback counterpart. However, the Tourer also has many individual features owing to its bigger size and functionality.

The Civic Tourer was entirely designed and developed in Honda’s Research & Development centers based in the UK and Germany, and will be produced in the company’s manufacturing plant in Swindon, Wiltshire. The Honda Civic Tourer offers two engine options, namely the1.6 liter i-DTEC diesel motor that is mated to a manual transmission, and a 1.8 liter petrol motor that will be coupled with a manual or an automatic gearbox.

The Honda Civic Tourer also offers three driving mode options of Normal, Comfort and Dynamic. The vehicle has been endowed with improved technological specifications to offer a smooth driving and easy handling to the owners. All the Tourer trim models get to have enhanced steering software as standard. Honda Motor will start taking orders for the Civic Tourer from December 2013, and will start delivering the units from February, 2014. The Tourer’s trim models are expected to be kept the same as the hatchback version. Honda will reveal the car’s prices and specifications at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. The expected price tag of the Honda Civic Tourer petrol variant is around £19,000.
