This bi-yearly auto show offers a huge opportunity to the car makers of India to showcase their new and upcoming car offerings and draw the attention of the Indian auto industry. The 2014 Indian Auto Expo is less than two months away as the event will begin on the 7^th of February, 2014, and thus, the car makers in the Indian car market are all geared up to present their new offerings utilizing this platform.

From the Indian car market leader Maruti Suzuki to Tata Motors and the other auto majors of India, all will have something or the other to display, either in the concept form or as a brand new or refreshed model. Honda has already unveiled the all new 2014 City sedan on 25^th of November, this year and the car is going to hit the market in January 2014. Apart from the City, Honda is going to offer a lot more new cars that the company is expected to announce at the 2014 Auto Expo.

The first car that Honda is going to present at the auto expo is the Mobilio MPV which should make its market launch soon after its unveiling. Honda is also going to bring back the Jazz brand in the country with the launch of the 2014 Jazz. This hatchback is also expected to be unveiled at the auto show. Moreover, Honda is also expected to display the Vezel compact SUV that it unveiled debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show this year. Considering the rising popularity of the UV segment in India and the growing rivalry, Honda has high chances of launching the Vezel SUV in the Indian car market.

The SUV segment is becoming dominant in India, car magazines and websites are splashed with a range of new upcoming SUV’s. The latest launches are Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport. Maruti Suzuki is working on XA Alpha and Hyundai on compact mini SUV. Now there is news of Honda manufacturing a new SUV with a refined urban material.

The making of a new urban SUV has been confirmed by Honda, and will be revealed during the prestigious Tokyo Motor Show of 2013. The concept car was displayed to the public at a highly acclaimed auto event called Detroit motor show. The news of Honda building a SUV is not new; there were reports of the car being in production stage. Car enthusiasts have captured the spied car doing its rounds on German streets.

The secret behind the exotic appeal of new City is its design base adopted from next-gen Jazz. The same will follow for Honda’s urban SUV, Indian streets are now filled with new SUV’s, and one can imagine the competition levels in this segment. The Honda Urban SUV will compete fiercely with Hyundai mini SUV, Maruti Suzuki XA Alpha, Nissan Terrano, Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport.

Those who have witnessed the concept car at the Detroit Motor show, the same design cues will be revealed with the urban SUV at the upcoming Tokyo motor event. There will be loads of cutting-edge curves and lines thrown on the exteriors, the car will portray a wide stance and low roof line. The company has described the characteristics of the car as roomy and efficient, and the other phrase is sporty and dynamic. During the Tokyo Motor show the car will measure above four meters, and will be around 4300milli meters long. Sources claim that the car will arrive in a below four meter package, but information on overall length has not yet been revealed.

For international segments, the car will be equipped with a powerful 1.6 liter diesel mill. The same engine is used in Jazz, and Civic. The transmission choices will be similar to next-gen City or Jazz. The petrol version of compact SUV will have a 1.5 liter engine capacity with iVTEC technology and with the diesel one is 1.5 liter iDTEC diesel engine with turbo technology.

The Urban SUV will be built in its Japanese headquartered firm, and it will be a rigid piece with herds of components. The theme behind the design of the car is interesting, called ‘’man-maximum machine-minimum’’. The insides will be tailored with premium upholstery, and also has a catchy phrase to it called ‘Magic Seats’ also found in Jazz. The production variant of the car will first arrive in Japanese markets this year, followed by India, European and North American markets.

Honda Urban SUV is an exciting model to watch out for, with its creatively designed exteriors which appears magnificently compact. The sides and front have neat free flowing lines and creases. The head light design is extremely arty and is molded into a narrow stretched back structure and is filled with white dice like materials. The luxuriously spacious interiors and phenomenal engine capacity together with an iconic exterior design will thrill SUV fans to no end.

Honda Cars India is one of the very few auto manufacturing companies in India which is doing very well in spite of the slumped market conditions of the Indian auto market. The Japanese auto major is experiencing positive growth and is all set to work on further popularity in the country. According to the reports, Honda is going to release a slew of new cars in the domestic market.

The President and CEO, Honda Cars India, Hirnori Kanayama has revealed about few of the new cars that are going to be launched in the Indian market soon in the future. The Brio Amaze is one new car from Honda that is creating a lot of news as it is going to be launched on 11th April 2013. However, it is not only the first diesel car Amaze, as the company says that there will be five more big cars apart from the Amaze sedan that will be launched in India within the coming three years time. These new cars will include a next-generation Jazz, which will be succeeded by the unveiling of a next-generation City. According to the reports there will be also an absolutely new utility vehicle, which is expected to be a compact SUV following the latest trend of the Indian SUV segment. These three cars are all expected to land up on the Indian soil by the year 2014 and 2015.

Honda is planning big for the Indian domestic market and it is confirmed by Kanayama as he said that within the next three years time, the company will come up with five big launches. According to the president, Honda will launch the next-generation Jazz and an all new utility vehicle in the next year. He added that the new Jazz will be introduced in the global market. Following these two launches, the Honda City, a sibling model of Jazz will launch, most probably in early 2015.

As the compact SUV segment is growing considerably in India, Honda is also venturing to get a slice of the SUV segment success as it plans to launch a compact SUV based on the Jazz platform. Recently, Honda has also previewed a Jazz based SUV concept which Kanayama thinks could be one of the models that can be suitable for the Indian market.

When the Honda CEO was asked about the pricing of the new Honda cars that are making their way to the Indian market, Kanayama said that “We should not betray customer expectations….the past is past, all I can do is to change the future.” Thus, there is also a hint that the company will price its upcoming products competitively.

Honda India is trying to introduce competitively priced cars in India to fight the rival companies but the company at the same time is also fighting to curb the problem of the exchange rate fluctuations from reflecting in the price tags of its cars in India. In the meantime, the company awaits the big launch of its Amaze compact sedan.
