The new 2013 Honda Civic is waving its way into India by the year 2014 and this all new Sedan is already on test at the Indian facilities of Honda. The Honda Civic is quite a practical car and features a heaving re-engineered five door hatch and has been altered in dimension to keep on par with the latest futuristic designs. As the vehicle is first of its class in India, there would be only two engine variants to choose from, one diesel and the other petrol engines in four trim levels. Let us discuss the different specifications of the vehicle in detail here.
Interior and Exterior styling:
The vehicle brags on a futuristic design and its gloss black grille, glass rear screen and its sharply defined wheels offers it a boxy look, which is not so common in India as yet. Alloy wheels are the trademark of Honda and its metal trim on the steering wheel and dash board extends its trendy look. Its leather seats and upholstery offers more comfort on the premium product. The front seats are unsupportive and firm with not many adjustments for comfort driving.
The materials certainly feel robust, but the front seats are too firm and unsupportive, and there is not enough adjustment so finding a comfortable driving position can be difficult. However the rear visibility on the Toured is a lot better than on the hatch and it keeps the same wheelbase, which means it’s still easy to park and steer around tight spaces.
Driving comfort:
Its diesel variant is the best of the range and features a 1.6 liter DTEC engine to offer a recent performance and an acceleration of 0 to 62 mph in less than 10 seconds. The engine offers the maximum torque of 300 Nm and a six speed gearbox to offer an easy throw and to make the best use of the engine power. The petrol engine on the other hand has the capacity of 1.8 liters and the item unit is a bit slower than its diesel counterpart, with a manual and automatic gearbox option.
Safety features:
The vehicle features the best mechanical reliability and its ADS dampers falls under the failsafe mode. Its cabin has a sturdy built and there are many safety equipment’s installed such as driver assistance, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, automatic city braking etc.
Automatic city braking, Blind-spot monitoring, a forward collision warning, and traffic sign recognition, and is available from SE trim upwards.
Other features
The Honda Civic is a well mounted wagon with all its variants features some of the best sophistications such as digital DAB radio, Bluetooth and 16 inch alloy wheels. The diesel variant of the tourer offers and economy figure of 75 mpg and is fuel efficient with a co2 emission rate of 99g/km. This securely exempts the road tax and keeps its running cost pretty low. The petrol variant is less impressive though as its co2 figures steep up creepily and does not offer long warranties compared to the diesel variant.
