Honda Cars’ wing in Philippines has launched its hybrid sports car known as the CR-Z, which stands for Compact Renaissance Zero in Taguig on 5th of August, 2013. Honda Philippines launches its green sports car even when the country’s government is yet to decide on the incenties for the green cars.
The President and General Manager at Honda Cars Philippines, Tatsuya Natsume while speaking during the launch, said that the customers’ unending interest as well as the very positive market appreciation has made this launch possible.
Honda had announced the previous year that the company will debut its very own hybrid car in Philippines, once the country’s government passes the bills that will grants tax incentives to the car makers and importers of the alternative fuel vehicles in order to these cars affordable for the general mass.
The Japanese luxury car major received very enthusiastic response from the Philippine consumers, when the CR-Z Mugen Concept was showcased at the 2012 Philippine International Motor show in 2012. Honda Cars announced in April, 2013 that it would go ahead with the car’s launch in the market despite the fact that the hybrid law is still pending.
Natsume told the media personals media personal during the launch even that apart from thinking about the hybrid law, Honda considered catering to the demands of the motor enthusiasts in Philippines. Thus, the company decided to launch the car before it was expected to arrive.
The Honda CR-Z Sports Hybrid Coupe will be available in three variants in Philippine market; namely the Standard, Modulo and Mugen. Under the hood, the Honda CR-Z is equipped with a 1.5 litre i-VTEC motor that is coupled with the compact and light Motor Assist hybrid electric system.
The CR-Z offers three driving modes, namely the Normal, Econ and Sport driving mode. Natsume added that the Honda CR-Z is an excellent sporty coupe that is meant to prove that hybrid cars are fun to drive. Honda is very proud to present its latest offering that will offer a peerless driving experience and cater to the most varying tastes of the modern market.
He further revealed that since the month of April, Honda has already received pre-booking for almost 100 units of the CR-Z. While 50 percent of the registered booking are for the Standard model, Modulo and Mugen models received 30 and 20 percent of the bookings respectively. The Honda CR-Z has a price range of between P1.39 million and P1.95 million.
Natsume revealed that the company will start the delivery of the CR-Z from 17th of August, while the car will also be available in dealerships in the same time. He added by saying that post its arrival in the showrooms the company is expecting much more bookings for the car.
Honda Cars is also very keen to grow in the potential car market of Philippines, as Natsume said that the company is interested in growing as much as the Philippine market is going to grow, and Honda is all prepared for that as well.
