Honda is a world acclaimed auto figure and has satisfied millions of Indians with its supremely luxurious brands. There is some exciting news for ardent Honda fans; the company aims to introduce the Acura brand for Indian markets. The president of the company in an interview said,’’ Our team is not focusing on luxury brands at present, but when there is significant growth in this category, the company might bring the Acura to India.’’
The company believes India is a robust market to push luxury cars, Accord is one of its quality brands, and the Acura, if placed above Accord, will certainly deliver fruitful sale results. There are however some hurdles when transporting posh cars to India. The CBU method is not too reliable, because of the hike in import prices, which has come to force in 2013, and the entire process is very steep. If the car is brought to India via CKD path, company representatives cannot correlate the low demand levels for the car with import costs.
Toyota too had to face similar impacts with its Lexus, and Nissan had plans to unveil its lavish car Infiniti for Indian segments. Acura is a popular brand in USA and China. The car has a larger dimension than Accord, and would be priced at Rs 40 lakhs.
Acura is one of Honda’s exquisitely designed brands; the car was first launched in the year 1986. In 2011, the company celebrated its 25th anniversary. If the magnificent exteriors are not sufficient, the car has a lot to offer in terms of comfort, safety and technology. The first brand to incorporate air bags as a safety measure was Honda, and the 1st car to receive this was Legion, and also a proprietary ABS devise was introduced.
Some of the advanced technologies used in Acura are (ACE) Advanced Compatibility Engineering, structural design, (VTEC) Variable Valve Timing along with Lift Electronic Control and (SH AWD) Super Handling All-Wheel Drive. The comfort and safety attributes are known to be the best-in-its class, Honda has introduced many variants with Acura such as ZDX, RDX, MDX, TSX sport wagon, TSX, TL and RL.
The car is built for Mexican, Chinese, Canadian and US markets; Honda has launched the Acura in its headquartered Japanese markets. A couple of years ago, Japan was tormented with Tsunami and earthquakes.
In US and Canada, most people rely on cars to travel long distances on a daily basis. The Acura with its abundant interior room and engine capacity makes it an ideal model to cover lengthy distances. In India if launched the car will hit on well with the public, since Indians are fascinated with luxury cars. The main reason being is to celebrate their top position in the work force. The earning power in India has risen marvelously over the years. It is unfortunate that there are import hindrances with posh brands. Let’s hope the situation is more favorable in the near future.
Honda has some interesting new launches for Indian markets; one of its exceptionally spacious and luxurious brands is Brio Mobilio MPV. The best part is the car is priced at Rs 7 lakhs. There is still something to look forward to even if the Acura is not released in India.
