In the past few years, Japanese auto major Honda has tasted a lot of success in the Indian auto market, with the launch of the Amaze entry level sedan and its offerings. It also bagged quite limelight for introducing the diesel engine product in India. Indeed, Honda is an overdrive mode and is launching new cars at a rapid pace in the country. The Acura NSX Concept, for the very first time, spanning Honda’ illustrious run in India, was showcased in the country at the Auto Expo 2014.
The Japanese carmaker had officially announced much earlier that the Acura NSX concept will be displayed at the Auto Expo. The European auto market will be getting the NSX with the Honda logo displayed prominently on the hood while the Indian car maker will be getting the Acura edition of the sports car. Also, the Acura model might soon be making its way in India and will craft a strong position for Honda in the upper-crest premium line-up. Also, Honda would be strengthening its position in the budget car segment which is a the mass market segment in India and Acura shall serve the customers eyeing premium segment cars.
The NSX concept is likely to be much similar to the production model and will be powered by a gigantic twin-turbo V6 engine with direct injection fuel supply. The high-performance oriented Acura’s Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive System ( SH-AWD) will be linked to the Acura NSX. Both the vehicles will be imported from the US state of Ohio, where they are being handcrafted to be launched in Indian auto market.
Honda discontinued NSX production in the year 2005 and nearly after a decade, it has decided to revive the brand, this time with much more vigor and dynamism. The concept model will be pushed for production by the year 2015 and the debut production model is likely to be launched by mid-2015. The NSX is renowned worldwide for its distinctive headlamps that resemble a insect and once launched in India, it would be competing head-on with the Nissan 370Z.
Based on the Sport Hybrid SH- All Wheel Drive system, the NSX will be powered by a V6 engine linked to a electric engine and two separate electric motors each fixed at the front wheel. The supercar is confirmed to have a dual-clutch transmission.
The 2015 Acura NSX will be called as Acura in China and North America and ad Honda in rest of the markets. Honda has been working on the development of the 2015 Acura NSX at its engineering plant located in Marysville in Ohio. This US-based manufacturing group rooted for the longitudinal framework for the new car. The 2015 Acura NSX will be engineered on Ohio plant’s assembly line and should go into production as a 2015 edition. Honda has also showcased a 1.0 litre turbocharged, direct-injection, three-cylinder engine as well as a 1.5 litre four cylinder engine that belong to the same family.
