The Honda car lovers must be aware of the snazzy new Civic Type R concept, the teased pics of which have gone viral on the digital world. The Honda Civic Type R is a concept version of the popular Civic and is a head turning, sporty car that offers race car like performance for the speed lovers. At the starting of the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, the Japanese luxury car maker has unveiled the Civic Type R Concept that offers a look at the company’s vision for the new sporty 2015 model of the Civic.
In Honda’s own words the Civic Type R concept is a “racing car for the road,” rather than a high performance conventional road car. The explanation of the company is justified by the very design language of the concept car which looks every bit of a stunning race car. Moreover, the concept’s design was also highly influenced by the track testing of a prototype model from Honda at the Nürburgring Nordschleife motorsports complex in Germany.
The race car influenced design elements are thoughtfully implemented on the Civic Type R concept to lend it gorgeous and aggressive visual appeal that will also double up as performance enhancers rather than being simply ornamentations. A few of the design inspiration from the track includes features such as a new angle and shape for the car’s rear spoiler that offers additional down force, wider front grilles and air outlets on the hood for enhanced cooling of the engine, more air outlets to enable improved air flow, and broader front and rear fenders to facilitate the accommodation of the large 20 inch tires.
All these track test inspired features not only enhances the performance of the car but are also made use to endow a very aggressive and mean looks to the car to make it an overall high performance car. Honda Motor claims that when all these features are combined they will offer maximum cooling, enhanced road grip and as a result, the finest road performance.
The Honda Civic Type R is a concept car for now, however it can be safely said that the model is conceptualized by the company to actually make it hit the production in near future as all its mechanical specifications are also carefully chalked out. The Japanese car major has announced that the production model of the Civic Type R concept will be packing in a powerful direct injection, 4 cylinder 2 liter, VTEC TURBO engine. This engine has the capability to produce a max power output of 276 Horsepower. The engine will also emit lesser harmful gasses and will be compliant with the Euro 6 emissions standard.
For now, the Honda Civic Type R concept model is grabbing eyeballs of the visitors at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show with its highly impressive styling. The 2015 Honda Civic Type R is slated to make its market launch in Europe in 2015. Honda is yet to announce its pricing and details on the performance figures.
