Honda Cars India records 17.8% sale growth in May with the movement of 13,362 vehicles, higher than 11,342 vehicles released in the corresponding period. Majority of profits was churned by Amaze and new City with 4,752 and 7,218 units respectively. Sales of Brio also picked up with the sale of 1,333 pieces. The car pick up is huge compared to only 575 vehicles rolled out last April. Brio is a trendy hatch sold at an initial price of Rs 5 lakhs, the sale output of CRV utility vehicle is 59 pieces. Honda’s profit in export sector is 518 units.
The Vice-President of Honda Cars India Limited in marketing and sale sections of the company Jnaneswar Sen said, ‘’we are grateful to our customers for the extended support centred on new City and Amaze and we are positive about our continued impressive performance across various segments.’’
Honda has strategized its launches effectively, the company has achieved month on end growth post the launch of Amaze last year. The continuous growth momentum is a grand surprise taking into consideration the weak market economy when most other esteemed firms struggled to hit desired margins. The company’s smart strategy on Amaze that drove growth is the extended cabin room for a sub four meter sedan, robust iDTEC diesel and iVTEC petrol engines, massive 400 litre boot volume and best-in-class 25.8kmpl mileage. Honda has incorporated similar strategies into its all new Honda City that runs on the same engines and its fuel-efficiency value is 26kmpl. The company is using the same engine formula in its upcoming Mobilio MPV.
The market scenario has picked up; companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Toyota have registered sale growths in 2014 May, higher than the corresponding year. The growth pattern is continuous for Honda Cars India; the major credit goes to sharp rise in shares last month. The sensex rose to massive 25,000 points, the same day India formed a new government. It came as a great surprise to many particularly when the public hopes for an economic boost shortly before Narendra Modi took oath as Prime Minister.
The month of May has noted a great surge in car buying capacity, apart from robust rise in shares; the other player is appreciation of Indian rupee against dollar. The value of Indian rupee is now Rs 59.47 against a dollar, the monthly hike in petrol and diesel costs will continue by 50 paise per litre.
Honda has a big launch next month Mobilio MPV; it is a car to look forward to with its massive size and sparkling shine. It is a seven seat model, built on Brio platform. The company has centred the car on Indian and other Asian markets; the initiative is to launch a product to suit the lifestyle requirements of Indian families. The fascinating elements of the car are it looks like a minivan when viewed from the side, and the window panes are large to bring in an amazing homely effect. Just like Amaze and new City, Mobilio MPV is also expected to churn grand fortunes, it is a mega launch. Let’s wait for the launch of the car and witness the customer response.
