It is again show time for Honda Cars India, and it is fully occupied doing all sorts of pre-launch activities for the imminent launch of the Mobilio MPV. The Mobilio is the second and most probably the last new car launch from Honda in India. The first launch in this year in the form of the new City has been a tremendous success for which Honda Cars India is still residing in cloud nine. The brand new Mobilio is a very important vehicle for Honda India, as this is the first venture of the company into India’s MPV market and it is expected to make a success hat-trick for the company after the Amaze and the new City.
Now, the highly awaited Honda Mobilio MPV gets spied while inside a company training center. The Mobilio has been dispatched to the Honda training centers across India where the company staff and dealers are supposed to be given demonstrations of the new vehicle. The training is required, as the dealers need to know thorough details about the vehicle before its bookings start to suffice customer information purposes.
The new Honda Mobilio MPV is all set to hit the domestic car market of India towards the end of July. The official pre-launch bookings for the MPV are also supposed to start from the beginning of July that is next month. However, some Honda dealers may have already started taking orders for the vehicle unofficially.
The Mobilio MPV has been already launched in the car market of Indonesia in the month of January this year, ever since which it is being expected to arrive in the Indian subcontinent. The vehicle was officially introduced by Honda Cars India at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, held in February this year. The Mobilio is 4,386 mm long, 1,683 mm wide, 1,603 mm tall and stands on a wheelbase of 2,650 mm.
In the Indonesia car market, the Mobilio MPV is offered in only its petrol variant, but for India the vehicle will be launched in both its petrol and diesel versions. The Mobilio petrol is powered by the new City’s 1.5 liter petrol motor that has the capability to produce 118 PS of max power and 145 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the Mobilio diesel will get powered by the 1.5 liter diesel mill also powering the new City in India. This engine that also drives the Amaze in a different tune is capable of generating 100 PS of max power and 200 Nm of peak torque.
The new Honda Mobilio is based on the Brio hatchback’s platform and is three-row, 7-seater MPV. In India it will be positioned between the space of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the segment leading Toyota Innova. The Mobilio’s primary rival will be the Maruti Ertiga which is a high selling compact MPV.
Currently, the Mobilio is scheduled to be showcased at several shopping malls in the major cities across the country.
