As per some new reports, the Japanese car maker, Honda is all set to launch its new Mobilio MPV to India on 23rd of this month. The Mobilio MPV is Honda’s venture into the country’s MPV market which is very lucrative. The upcoming Mobilio MPV is expected to be the stern rival of the current compact MPV market leader Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, and immerge as the new leader. The new MPV from Honda has been keeping the auto enthusiasts waiting for quite a long time, and now it is finally going to launch in a couple of weeks’ time.
The Japanese car maker has been teasing the prospective buyers of the vehicle by regularly uploading fresh images and details of the MPV on its official website. Though the company has confirmed the launch of the Mobilio in India in July this year, it has not announced the exact launch date of the vehicle simply to heighten the suspense factor it is believed. However, the Japanese auto maker has already soft launched the vehicle at several big shopping malls of the country, so that the prospective takers of the Mobilio get to have a closer look at the vehicle. Now, a reputed auto portal has reported that Honda is planning to launch the Mobilio officially in the Indian car market on 23rd July.
The Honda Mobilio is based on the popular Brio hatchback, and is going to be available in both its petrol and diesel versions in the Indian market. The vehicle will be powered by the 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol engine generating 117bhp of power, and the 1.5 liter i-DTEC diesel mill delivering 98bhp of power, both of which do the duty under the hood of the all new Honda City. The engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, while the petrol will get a CVT gearbox option as well. The diesel version of the Mobilio MPV is expected to deliver the industry topping fuel efficiency of 26kmpl, while the petrol version is expected to offer a mileage of 18kmpl.
Some of the Honda dealers have started taking pre-launch bookings of the Mobilio with a token amount of Rs. 51,000, though the company has not yet commenced the official booking of the car.
Honda Cars India is expected to price the new MPV in the price range of Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 8.50 lakh in the domestic car market. The Mobilio has been already launched in the Indonesian car market where it is a runaway success. The Mobilio crossed the sales rates of the Suzuki Ertiga soon after it launched in Indonesia in January this year, and is currently among the top bestselling cars in that market.
Post its market launch in India, the new Honda Mobilio MPV will fighting it out with the models such as the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Nissan Evalia and the Chevrolet Enjoy.
