Honda has developed a new Civic Type R racing model, and sources say the company is likely to use it for the esteemed 2015 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). The fact that the company may use the new Civic Type R car is a welcoming surprise, there were doubts regarding Honda’s entry into the tournament, because of its decision to use McLaren for Formula 1 entry.
A representative of Honda to Autosport said, ‘’we have not sorted our plans for 2015, but we are keen to give our second attempt to BTCC race in 2015 particularly after the exhilarating response centred on new Civic Type R car.’’ if Honda confirms its position for BTCC, it will entail an extensive thought process for Team Dynamics who will use a hatchback vehicle for North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) participants. The reason for the shift is the team used Civic Tourer was used in the earlier season.
Civic Tourer is a car to opt for; Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden have won races on Tourer. It is however not the best model, when the car was used at the vigorous Rockingham race, Neal felt issues with new VTEC engine; it was a brand new 2014 engine. He was satisfied with the movement of the car, and said that the engine punch is not on the lines of TOCA mill. Neal was content with initial thrust, but mid-way, Honda cars are rarely visible, and there was not even a single car in top 20 in middle speed trap lead.
The admirable initial thrust, yet slow pace movement of Honda, raised questions, on the impact of the model in oncoming races. Neal is of the view that Honda’s position in future championships is at stake and may one day be taken off. He also mentioned of the position of TOCA developed by Swindon Engines and said that the manufacturing process is full-fledged to have a higher champion gain over Honda.
Alan Gow the Series Boss responds to comments put forth by Neal and is against his views. He made a statement saying Honda’s position in BTCC series is commendable with three continuous driver title wins. Gow is however familiar with the complaints about Honda’s iVTEC engine capacity. It was the time when Civic was the first lead in every manufacturer, teams and driver’s championship trophy. Andrew Jordan was the winner in 2013; he drove his own Civic vehicle and beat Team Dynamics cars.
Neal and Gow have different views on the performance of Honda models; it is a highly dependable brand to showcase the power of rigorous racing. The design of new Civic Type R is interesting, a rare race car sight. It is covered in posters and on it are the names of top firms such as One Call Insurance, Yuasa, Castrol and Dunlop.
Driving the new Civic Type R at the competitive BTCC series is going to be a heck of exhilaration. The mere appearance of the car will make participants feel on top of the world. Fuelled by triumphant glory, the car has to make it to BTCC trophy and it is going to be a mind blowing game.
