Japanese car major Honda Motor has unveiled the upcoming Jazz based compact SUV model officially that will go on sale in Europe. This Jazz based compact SUV from the house of Honda is nothing else but the Vezel SUV as it is known in the car maker’s home market Japan.
Honda HR-V SUV
The much appreciated Honda Vezel SUV has made several appearances at multiple international auto shows all over the world. Honda has already announced that the Honda Vezel SUV is going to be called the HR-V in the car market of North America and will be tagged slightly higher than the Jazz premium hatchback that are sold in the international car markets. However, the Vezel or HR-V’s European spec models’ market name is still not finalized.
Similar to the global markets, the Indian car market is also a hot spot for the compact SUV models which is fast growing as almost all car majors operating in India are keen on offering their own mini SUV in the country. However, the Honda HR-V alias Vezel will not be making an entry into the highly potential compact crossover segment of India. Nevertheless, this does not mean that Honda ill not offer a compact SUV in India, and is known to be working on a Brio based compact crossover specially developed for India and it may be offered for sale later in similar markets. Honda has reasoned out that the Vezel is a more premium SUV which cannot be reasonably priced for India to please its price conscious buyers, whereas the Brio based mini SUV will be totally India specific with an attractive price point as well.
Coming back to the Honda HR-V compact SUV; the vehicle will be powered by a range of two petrol engines. These petrol mills will be the company’s efficient 1.5 liter 4-cylinder unit and a 1.0 liter 3-cylinder motor. Honda Motor may also introduce a diesel engine under the hood of the compact SUV meant for the European auto market.
Though the mini SUV from the Japanese car major is based on the current gen Fit/Jazz, the company has made noteworthy changes to the vehicle’s exterior design. This has made the HR-V look more muscular and more aggressive than its hatchback sibling and has become a true SUV in the process. The Honda Vezel gets great looking sleek headlight design and LED DRLs and an aggressive looking front bumper. The vehicle’s flared wheel arches and sloping roofline add to its sporty look.
Honda is expected to bring the Brio based crossover in India pretty soon to please the SUV loving Indian populace. After a blockbuster trio of Amaze, new City and Mobilio Honda is expected to keep its success story growing with its upcoming launch which is going to be the all new Jazz in India. Honda’s Brio based mini SUV is expected to hit India after the new Jazz’s launch and fight it with the likes of Ford Ecosport, Renault Duster and the lot.
