When the Japanese car major Honda Motor announced that it is developing a new successor to the iconic NSX supercar, it was actually given that the company had to get many things right in the new vehicle to make it a real success in the market. Now, it seems that the Japanese auto manufacturer is working indeed very hard to achieve that right product.
Apparently, in a recent interview the NSX’s development head, Ted Klaus revealed to the media that this new upcoming NSX will have high performance levels. He further offered an actual idea about the future car’s performance levels by comparing it to the Ferrari 458. Apart from saying that the new NSX successor will have a great performance characteristics that are similar to the Ferrari 458, he further added that what is more important for the company is the fact that it is working hard by testing the vehicle every day at the Nurburgring in order to achieve this desired high performance car.
What is more enticing is the fact that Honda wishes to achieve the Ferrari 458’s performance in its new car while keeping it more affordable, though albeit it will have a premium price tag. Klaus clearly wishes to challenge the Italian car maker on the price front while offering the same level of performance. Thus, the upcoming NSX successor is going to be priced in the levels of the Audi R8. Klaus stressed on this important fact and added by saying that he realizes that is a very broad-spectrum range nevertheless the new NSX will still be very accessible.
While Klaus revealed great bunch of information for the high performance car aficionados, he also hinted at some bad news. While the new NSX with its Ferrari like performance and Audi R8 like price range makes it sound a great thing, the sad thing is that this car will really not be available to a lot of people. The reason behind this is that the new upcoming NSX is supposedly rare car and this was also hinted at by Klaus. He has also mentioned about the company’s intention to make the new NSX an exclusive and rare car. He said that the company does not wish to meet demand for the new NSX, and instead intends to increase the buzz around it through its rarity.
Honda Motor also seems to be preparing a variety of new NSX models, including the high-performance version and a convertible.
Klaus furthermore stated that this new supercar will also have petrol-electric hybrid (which is still in its initial test phase, and its batteries fired up at the Nurburgring) system which will be unbelievably economical. He again compared it with the greenest Porsche 911, saying that Honda will even exceed that.
The production version of the new NSX model is scheduled to debut at the 2015 Tokyo motor show in November next year, and sales will begin soon after that.
