Honda HR-V – the urban crossover and strong rival

Honda’s latest addition to the vast family is HR-V, getting launched in the South African market. Quite spacious inside, this compact HR-V, urban crossover will start its run in local showrooms by the end of this month. Honda, the Japanese car maker company, has centred its special attention towards providing comfortability and ample of space on the interiors along with magic seat system which allows a generous 60:40 split among the bench seat at the rear to let it readjusted in a different way to provide some additional space. This magic seat system also caters to other two Honda vehicles, Civic and Jazz. It also adds flexibility and practicality to the interior as it is quite helpful in creating different combination options between the cargo and the passengers. Although the standard seat system is also there to serve the customers who likes their interiors to be a little more traditional.

Offering three different modes, Honda’s Magic seat system is a unique system that has been largely embraced by the customers for quite some time now. In the utility mode of the said system, the rear seatbacks can be forwarded to the front as the seat base gets lowered into the rear foot well, resulting in a flat floor that gets measured at 1845 mm. On the other hand, the tall mode, works towards raising the front of the rear seat base and locks it in a vertical position, creating an additional interior space to conveniently set tall objects behind the front seats. Coming to the long mode, what it does to create extra space is that it folds the co-driver’s seat backwards while folding the rear seat forward to make way for a ‘tunnel’ like space to make it comfortable to store object as long as 2455 mm.

Available in two models, HR-V provides a unique line of features and specs such as air conditioning, mirrors and windows powered by electricity, cruise control, remote central locking, a multi information trip computer system and a steering wheels carrying out many different functions other than the standard ones  it is meant for.

Infotainment system is extensively exquisite, with two different models proving a seven inch and a 5 inch LCD touchscreen monitor separately with Bluetooth connectivity, hands free mobile service and audio streaming comes standard with both models. Also, laced with electricity, powered parking brake and the auto brake hold function, Honda’s latest car is quite tech savy and allows the passenger to feel comfort while going on long drives. Along with highly stylized interior functions come safety features that are quite extraordinary as well. Inertia reel seatbelts, six airbags, the ACE (advanced compatibility engineering) body, ABD- anti lock brakes, emergency stop signal assist, emergency brake assist, hill start assist along with a vehicle stability assist promises a very safe ride to the passengers.

Already powering jazz, Honda’s very favourite 4-cylindered 1497 cc engine offers the intense maximum power of 88 Kw with highest torque of 145 Nm, in one model.

For the upper model, Honda chose a 1799 cc four cylinder engine, with 105 kW of maximum power with a torque of 172 Nm.
