Italian car major Fiat has been pretty dull of late when new launches are concerned in the Indian car. The last time Fiat India created some news was with the launch of the sporty Avventura crossover, which is actually a beefed-up version of the Fiat Punto Evo hatchback. After the Avventura, things have been pretty quiet for the Italian car maker. However, just ahead of the Indian festive season, Fiat Chrysler India has made its mind to grab some attention and pep up its sales with some new product launches. The company has ventured into the Indian performance car market with the launch of its Abarth 595 Competizione.
The new Fiat Abarth 595 Competizione has been quite an awaited launch for the Indian car enthusiasts who lust for sporty performance centric cars. Fiat India launched the new Abarth 595 Competizione at the Buddh International Circuit, New Delhi to grab the attention of speed hungry public of India. This compact performance car from the Italian car major’s stable is simply a great vehicle built to impress.
Abarth is Fiat’s wing that tunes cars to make them high performance sports cars. Abarth has been turning many cars from the stable of Fiat into head turning mean machines. Fiat had received a lukewarm response for the Fiat 500 when it launched back in the year 2008. However, the iconic Italian car soon failed to garner sustainable sales volumes in the Indian car market and got lost into oblivion. The Fiat 500 was launched in India powered by the much acclaimed and popular 1.3 MultiJet Diesel engine from the company. However, the story is completely different with the new Abarth 595 Competizione. This performance compact car is equipped with a powerful 1.4 liter T-jet mill that is capable of churning out a max power output of 158 bhp and 230Nm of top torque at 2750-3000 rpm, which of course has been tuned by Abarth. It is an extremely fast car, and the Italian car maker claims that it can reach 100 kmph from a standstill in a matter of just 7.6 seconds. The car has the capability to offer a top speed of 210 kmph.
The new Abarth 595 Competizione is priced at Rs.32.83 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The car offers a sporty Sports mode, paddle shift and Torque Transfer control. It gets an aggressive sporty design all packed with brilliant xenon headlights, electric sunroof, and large 17 inch stylish alloy wheels among other striking features.
Fiat India has also unveiled the new upcoming Punto Abarth which is going to hit the market during this year’s festive season. The Punto Abarth will be getting powered by the same 1.4 litre T-jet motor as the 595 Competizione, and will offer 145 bhp of power along with tweaked suspension. The Abarth 595 Competizione is a CBU that is fully manufactured in Poland and imported to India, but the upcoming Punto Abarth will be a locally manufactured product and will be rolled out from Fiat’s Ranjangaon facility, close to Pune.
