Japanese car major, Honda’s fully owned Indian subsidiary Honda Cars India has been witnessing stellar success and unparallel growth for a couple of years. However, very recently Honda Cars India has been facing trouble in terms of monthly sales rates. For the last few months, the largest premium car maker in India has been reporting declined sales indicating that its hay days have kind of ended for now.
Honda Cars India has reported that the company has suffered a decline of a steep 23.2 percent in its sales in the domestic car market that accounted to the sale of 17,430 units in the last month. The Japanese car major had managed to sell 22,696 vehicles in the month of March in 2015, the company revealed in a statement.
In the last month, Honda Cars India had sold 2,158 units of its entry level small hatchback model Honda Brio, 3,683 units of its premium hatchback model the Honda Jazz, 5,223 units of the compact sedan model Honda Amaze, 601 units of the MPV model Honda Mobilio and 5,662 units of its mid-sized premium sedan model which is also the company’s bestselling product – the Honda City. Apart from these, the car maker had also managed to find 94 units of its flagship sports utility vehicle model the Honda C-RV.
Moreover, the Japanese auto giant had also shipped a total of 193 vehicles to the international markets from India during the month of March 2016.
31st of March, 2016 marked the end of the last financial year of 2015-16 for which the company revealed that its domestic sales were up by 2 percent accounting to the sale of 1,92,059 units as compared against the sale of a total 1,89,062 vehicles in the previous financial year of 2014-15.
Honda Cars India’s Senior Vice President of the Marketing & Sales department, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen while speaking about the company’s performance in the just concluded financial year by saying that the year of 2015-16 was an eventful as well as a rewarding fiscal year for the company. Honda Cars India continued in its growth in the car market of India, making the last fiscal the fourth consecutive year of the company’s yearly sales growth.
Sen added by saying that the new financial year of 2016-17 which just began holds incredible opportunity for the company’s further market growth in India as Honda Cars India will expand its product line-up with the launch of new models as well as expand its dealership network.
The upcoming launch of the new Honda BR-V compact SUV model is certainly expected to boost the sales of the Japanese company. The Honda BR-V will also mark Honda Cars India’s entry into a new product segment of India Sen added by saying.
The Honda BR-V is one of the most awaited new car launches in the current auto industry of India. Post its Indian launch, the BR-V will lock its horns with the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster among others.
