Honda Jazz and Skoda Fabia always remained in the limelight prior to their much awaited launches, due to their extensive promotions. Both the cars were hoping to set the market on fire with their exciting new features. However, the biggest shortcoming in success of both the cars was their high pricing. Honda Jazz was slated at Rs 7.9 lakhs and Skoda Fabia priced at 8.42 lakhs. The cars though closely priced, but there are differences in the two. Honda Jazz comes only with a petrol engine whereas the Skoda Fabia is available in both petrol and diesel variants.
Honda Jazz top model comes with a 1.2 Litre 4 cylinder petrol engine with an 1198cc displacement. Jazz gives a maximum torque of 11.2 KGM at 4800 rpm. The acceleration goes 0-100 Kmph in only 13.29 seconds. The petrol variant of Skoda Fabia has 1.2Litre, 3 cylinder engine. The engine displacement of Fabia is 1198cc, same as that of Jazz. Maximum torque offered 11 Nm at 3,000 rpm.
Skoda Fabia petrol variant reaches the top speed of 155 Kmph and acceleration rises to100 Kmph from 0 Kmph in just 16.26 seconds. The diesel variant has a 1.4Litre, 4-cylinder engine that has a displacement of 1422 cc maximum torque offered by the diesel variant is 15.8 NM at the rate of 1600-2800 rpm. Diesel variant gives a top speed of 168 Kmph and its acceleration from 0 to 100 Kmph is reached in 14.95 seconds
Honda Jazz gives mileage is of 13 kmpl on urban roads and on highways, its mileage is 16 kmpl. Petrol version of the Skoda Fabia provides a mileage of 13.2 kmpl in urban regions and 16.8 kmpl on highways. Its diesel version offers 15.1-kmpl mileage in urban areas and on highways it gives 19 kmpl.
Honda Jazz includes powerful air conditioner, adjustment options in steering wheel, front and rear power windows, CD/MP3 player, fog lamps, adjustable driver seat etc as standard features. Other features include remote fuel lid opener, power steering, accessory power outlet, low fuel warning light and trunk light. The safety features of jazz comprises of Antilock Braking system and 2 airbags for front passengers. The car also comes with Central and remote locking, Brake Assist, Child Safety Locks, Night rear view mirror, Power Door Locks, rear seat belts, side and front impact beams etc.
Both variants of Skoda Fabia petrol and diesel variants include air conditioning, front and rear power windows, adjustable driver seat, audio player, fog lamps, steering wheel adjustment and Leather seats. Features limited to the diesel variant are remote trunk opener and remote fuel lid opener. Safety features also vary in both the variants. The diesel variant features an anti lock braking, central locking brake assist, power door locks, 2 airbags in the front, night rear view mirror, child safety locks ,rear seat belts etc. The petrol variant only features night rear view mirror, child safety locks, rear seat belts, door ajar warning, 2 front airbags, door ajar warning and side and front impact beams etc.
