Considering the increasing prices of petrol and diesel the car manufacturers are launching the CNG models of their sedan. The latest additions are The Honda City and Maruti Suzuki’s SX4. The Honda City has emerged as the bestselling car in the C+ segment. For more than a decade, City has ruled in its segment and now it is again launched in new CNG avatar. On the other hand, India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has also launched its sedan which is the popular model SX4. Let us compare the sedans on the basis of their exteriors, interiors and engine power.
Exterior looks
The Honda city has a new fascia now. The addition of the first class electric sunroof makes the car look amazing and beautiful, at the same time. The front of the car flaunts a premium chrome finish radiator grille. The badge of the company is also chrome finished and looks aggressive. The car has a good amount of ground clearance. The headlamps look sleek and stretched. The OVRMs and the door handles come in body colour. A new set of rear lamps have been added and the ten spoke alloy wheels completes the look of the car.
Maruti Suzuki SX4 is a midsized sedan and comes wrapped up in the body colour only. It does not have a long bonnet like the other sedans. It rather has a bold nose and a compact hood. The front flaunts the eye catching headlights, the radiator grille, horizontal but oval shaped fog lamps, an air intake and a chrome finished logo of the company at the centre. Maruti SX4 features electronically-powered OVRMs and body match bumpers that go both along the body colour.
Interiors
The Honda City has elegant and attractively designed interiors. The rich beige interiors come with superior fabric seat and an improved neo centre control panel. It has a soft lit blue coloured Meter Graphic. The dashboard is dual tone. All new black interiors give the car a corporate look. The car provides comfortable seating capacity with generous head, leg and shoulder space where a 6 feet tall person can accommodate easily. The door handles has chrome inserts and the armrests comes with fabric inserts also.
The interior of Maruti SX4 is very elegant. It has a dashboard with integrated audio system, AC vents, climate control, and the instrument panel. The dashboard offered in dual tone and also comes with glove box, dual info display for time and temperature. The three spoke steering is electronically powered and is tilt adjustable. Maruti Suzuki SX4 comes with fabric seats at the front and the rear. The door handles and the door locks have silver finish on them. This car also comes in leather upholstery.
Engines
The Honda City CNG variant is powered with the 1.5-litre 116.3bhp 16V SOHC i-VTEC, 1497 cc, 4 cylinder CNG engine which produces a maximum power of 116.3bhp at the rate of 6600rpm and a maximum torque of 146Nm at the rate of 4800rpm.
Maruti Suzuki SX4 comes with 1.6L 103.2bhp 4-cyl. Variable Valve Timing (VVT) with i-GPI (Intelligent Gas Port Injection) bi-fuel technology CNG engine which produces a maximum power of 103.2bhp at 5600rpm and a maximum torque of 145Nm at 4100rpm.
No doubt both have their plus and minus points still Honda City stands out to be a better sedan than Maruti Suzuki SX4.
