Honda is credited with the introduction of the first plug-in-hybrid Accord which meets the stringent strong-emission standard. This is an extraordinary achievement by the company to meet one of the toughest criteria’s in the car industry. The 2014 Honda Accord is rated the first ever gasoline-powered car to meet the challenging California’s SULEV20 standard, which is also the toughest in the nation, and cleaner than the lowest state standard by one-third.
2014 Honda Accord also is branded with the greenhouse gas emissions to be lower than the average standard of cars in 2025, which is equivalent to a 50% reduction from the existing levels.
According to Tom Cackette, the Board’s deputy executive officer and head of mobile source program, ‘’Honda has showcased that a keen commitment to the environment and advanced engineering at the initial stages can deliver an impressive outcome of the cleanest cars way ahead of schedule.’’
The petition to permit Honda to sell the newly crafted ultra-clean cars in California was signed by The Air Resources Board Executive on December 21st, after an extensive examination of emission and performance test results. Honda geared ahead with its production on the same day of the agreement. The state-of-the art 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid will be unwrapped in California and New York on January 15th 2013.
The 2014 Honda Accord hybrid will be designed with a powerful two-motor hybrid system along with a new Earth Dreams 2.0-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine rendering a shockingly impressive 137 horsepower along with 124-kilowatt electric motor. The electric manoeuvring will be supported by a 6.7 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery.
