With the country eagerly awaiting the launch of Honda Amaze in India, Honda India has already uploaded a teaser image of the Amaze car. Honda has requested viewers about their thoughts on the Amaze design and the company has also posted reviews from reputed automotive companies. Another exciting angle to the launch is the Amaze will be the company’s first diesel car to arrive in India. Honda is also planning to launch many other diesel cars in India such as Honda City, Jazz based MPV.
The Amaze is expected to launch by the mid of 2013, and will have stiff competition with Swift Dzire and Tata Indigo. The car has been recently launched in Thailand. The company has already posted the teaser image, when the launch is barely six months away. The Amaze is a sedan adopted from the Brio. The Amaze has been designed to provide a more interior rare seat space. The seats have modified with new upholsteries and cushions to enhance the comfort for rear seat passengers to a new level. The Amaze will be fitted with a very powerful 1.5L iDTEC diesel engine and a 1.2-liter iVTEC petrol engine which will deliver a whooping mileage of 20kmpl. The car will hit the Indonesian market after its launch in India. In India the car will be manufactured at the well established plant in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The company will strongly depend on Amaze to improve its car sales. The car is already in the waiting list of the most anticipated cars in India; one would expect the car to be a strong market player.
The Amaze engine is expected to churn a maximum power of 90PS and 200Nm torque. The diesel variant will be fitted with a 5 speed manual gear box, and the petrol variant will be fitted with a 5 speed auto transmission gear box. The kerb weight of the car will be 1050 Kgs and the car will be available with attractive and subtle colour options of white, silver, wine red, grey and violet. In Thailand the Amaze has been launched in four variants with two being automatic and manual respectively. The variants are priced between Rs 8.16 lakh and Rs 9.35 lakh in Thailand. In India the car is expected to be priced between 5 lakh and 6.5 lakhs for the petrol version and between 6 lakhs and 7.5 lakhs for the diesel version.
The 1.6 diesel engine was revealed at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, the Indian Government is firm with diesel usage in engines, and the engines which churn less than 1,500 cc require lower taxes. Hence the company is reducing the engine capacity to 1.5 litres with a shorter stroke and notch difference in exhaust treatment. The lower capacity diesel will accommodate a compact and lightweight sedan. The Honda Amaze has been publicised in many mediums like car magazines, internet and newspapers to the core way before its launch, hence the much awaited car will shock the public with its exterior as projected in the teaser image.
