The 2013 Honda Accord has earned a prestigious brand of fitting the top spot in Cars.com ‘’MotorWeek’’. The car competed with six popular midsize sedans achieving an impressive 28mpg EPA-rated fuel economy. According to the announcement made by Honda on December 27th, this is the fifth win for Honda in the ‘’MotorWeek’’ showdown.
The 2013 Accord earned the top spot for its athletic and dynamic handling, along with enhanced comfort driving experience and quality features. According to Michael Accavitti, vice president of marketing operations, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. ‘’We are extremely delighted that the real world customers have noted that Accord is a forerunner in all areas which makes the MotorWeek showdown a grand success for the 2013 Accord more meaningful. The consistent profit gains of Honda products in these events support our firm leadership with in-market consumers.’’
According to Patrick Olsen, Editor-in-Chief of Cars.com, ‘’Accord is the oldest and most dependable midsize sedans in the market. The reason for the 2013 Accord emerging winner is the high-end standard features, value for money and great driving ability.’’
The 2013 Accord is among the first vehicles to be awarded the Top Safety Pick by the Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and also the prestige of earning the brand of Car and Driver Magazine’s ‘10 Best Cars list’ for the 27th time.
The 2013 Accord has also been famed as a finalist for the 2013 North American Car of the Year, the awards will be held at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit in early January. The MotorWeek competition judges the cars on all round features required in an average car such as fuel efficiency, practicality, driving ability, comfort and safety.
The competition was judged on very strict criteria’s of not exceeding $26,000 and maintaining a minimum mileage of 28mpg. Many mid-sized sedans did not attempt to participate because they could not meet the stringent requirements.
