The much awaited car, the Honda Amaze launched yesterday in India with a starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh for the diesel version. The interesting part is the Amaze is the first diesel car to launch in India from the Japanese parent company. Sources claim that they enjoyed the drive quality of the Amaze.
In simple terms, the Amaze is a boot version of the Brio. The design is pretty artistic with a longer wheelbase to facilitate more room. The car is a sub four meter sedan. The diesel model is equipped with a powerful Earth Dreams diesel engine that can churn impressive efficiency of 88 PS. The diesel model of Amaze will be branded the most fuel efficient car with an astonishing mileage of 25.8 KMPL.
The Amaze will provide stiff competition for Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, which is fitted with an equally powerful K-series engine. It would be interesting to observe the cut-throat competition between the two models. The top end version of the Amaze diesel is priced at 7.6 lakh rupees. The 1.5- DTEC engine is adopted from the 1.6 i-DTEC engine which is dominant in Europe. This engine will be employed in the Brio, Jazz and City models during next year.
Yoshiyuki Matsumoto the Managing officer of Honda Motor Co said, ‘’the Amaze is manufactured to cater to Indian taste and requirements.’’
The car has a dimension of below 4 meters, and can fit into the excise duty category at 12%. The Amaze is shorter than the Dzire by 5mm. The wheelbase of the Amaze is shorter than the Swift Dzire of 2405mm and is longer than the Brio by 60mm.
The interior of the Amaze according to sources is amazing the legroom and knee room is amazing, the cabin space is splendid. The cabin is an ideal replica of Brio in terms of style and colour. The music system and steering mounted controls makes one experience an atmosphere of luxury. The Amaze has an amazing boot space of 400 litres that can carry heavy luggage beyond imagination.
The exciting and interesting features of the Amaze diesel is the car is inserted with 8-spoke 14 inch alloy wheels, air-conditioning, dual air bags, ABS and EBD, 400 litre boot space body coloured ORVM’s, fabric seats with head rests and front chrome grill and rear chrome garnish and many other features.
According to Jnaneswar Sen, the vice-president in the sales and marketing segment of HCIL, ‘’the amaze is an important car for us, since this is the first diesel engine besides being a new arrival in the entry level sedan segment.’’
The company announced that it would manufacture the diesel engine of Amaze at the established Tapukara factory in Rajasthan, and the car will be released from the reputed factory in Greater Noida. The Amaze diesel has all round splendid features in terms of exterior artistic body, superb engine and mileage as well as excellent safety features which is one of best packages introduced in the car industry.
