Honda Cars India has launched its new entry level sedan, Amaze in India on 11th of April as was scheduled by the company. This Brio based compact sedan was one of the most awaited cars in the Indian car market. As was dearly hoped by the Honda car aficionados, Honda has really managed to unveil this sedan with a very competitive starting price of Rs 4.99 lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi).
The Honda Amaze sedan comes to the Indian auto consumers in two avatars of petrol and diesel. The diesel Amaze is also the first diesel car offering from Honda to the Indian auto market. The price range for the diesel variant of the compact sedan starts from Rs 5.99 lakhs, while the top model – VX variant is available for Rs 7.60 lakhs.
The Amaze was primarily produced to give tough competition to the top selling sedan segment leader, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. The pricing, fuel efficiency and styling of the Honda Amaze clearly signifies the amount of competition that it would give to Maruti Dzire.
The Honda Amaze sedan’s petrol variant is a powerful car that is run by an advanced 1.2 litre i-VTEC petrol engine. The petrol oil burner is capable of churning out 88PS and maximum torque of 109Nm. This same powerful petrol engine is also responsible for powering the popular Honda Brio hatchback, on which platform the Amaze is based on. According to ARAI, the Amaze petrol provides a fuel economy of 18kpl. The sub-4 meter sedan also gets a 5-speed automatic petrol variant with ARAI fuel efficiency of 15kpl.
On the other hand, the Honda Amaze diesel is powered by a new turbocharged 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine that produces 100PS at 3600rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1750rpm. The fuel efficiency of the diesel Amaze is 25.8kpl, which is the highest in India.
The Honda Amaze will be available in six body colors, which includes the new Magnetic Blue and two interior colour-trims depending on the models. The Amaze is loaded with great features including heat absorbing sun-film and foldable rearview mirrors. The Amaze also has the highest boot space in the sedan segment with 400 litres.
