Honda Cars India Limited has announced plans to export their powerful and efficient i-DTEC diesel engine segments to European and South East Asian segments. The i-DTEC engine is fitted in the Amaze sedan that was recently launched. The Japanese firm is likely to introduce 3 or 4 diesel models to boost the profit sale output in India. The i-DTEC engine in Amaze is a boon to the company; the car is also known to be the most fuel efficient car with a mileage of 25.8 Kmph.
Besides the Amaze, Honda’s Senior Vice President announced that diesel engines will be incorporated in powerful models of Jazz and City, and also in the seven seat Multi Purpose Vehicle and new compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). These new surprise packages will arrive in India in 2 to 3 years from now, and will be equipped with competent engines of 1.5 or 1.6 liters. Honda Cars India has studied the shift in consumer preferences with more buyers opting for diesel models than petrol; the company hence has a line of diesel cars in the pipeline.
On the company’s future launches in the domestic segment, Jnaneswar Sen, the Senior Vice President of Honda Cars India Limited said, ‘’We aim to export diesel power trains devices to South East Asian and European markets from India. Our target this fiscal is Rs 500 crore compared to Rs 332 crore recorded in 2012 to 2013.’’ The company is not perturbed by the removal of excise duty weavers on diesel cars. Honda India is confident about diesel cars reining the Indian car segment and is certain to continue with their efforts to promote diesel cars. Sen announced that the Government’s decision to withdraw excise duties shocked the entire team, but strongly feels that the desire for diesel car’s by Indians will continue to be robust in the coming years.
The i-DTEC engine has been employed in diesel cars of City, Jazz and Amaze, the result has been fruitful, with the City and Jazz contributing admirable profit units for Honda India. The introduction of this engine in Amaze is the reason for the massive pre booking figures, and mileage. This car launched recently, and will have to wait and figure out its performance with regard to profit sale output in a few months from now. The Jazz and City are extremely popular in India; these cars have dynamic engine outputs. The Jazz has a trendy, sophisticated and professional appeal with an excellent mileage of 16.7 kilometer per liter. The City also delivers impressive fuel efficiency that ranges from 13 to 17 kilometers per liter.
Since the i-DTEC engine has been extremely efficient in the Amaze, the incorporation of this engine in the City and Amaze is likely to create a stellar image on Indian roads. In India, people are opting for luxury cars in the small and big car segment due to the increase in employment rate and earning power which has made luxury cars more affordable to the public, and also with the attractive EMI’s offered by car companies.
