As a growing number of people become environmentally conscious and the global demand for green cars rises incredibly. Honda being a leading car company does not want to stay behind and finally joins the same band wagon as its renowned Japanese as well as other global rivals to work together towards the development of a better green commuting system.

Honda has decided to join its auto industry rivals and has signed up for the membership of the H2USA partnership that is committed to the development, infrastructure as well as the commercialization of the Fuel Cell Vehicles. The U.S Department of Energy program had started in the month of May, 2013 and it already has the joint collaboration from several global giants such as Toyota, Mercedes, Nissan and Hyundai among other manufacturers and government agencies as well as suppliers.

H2USA is a partnership between the public as well as private companies that is formed primarily to focus on the proper development of the hydrogen refueling infrastructure in order to really make the Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV) actually convenient for the US consumers. The auto makers who have joined hands with the US energy department are going to work towards finding the best solutions to develop the proper hydrogen refueling infrastructure and also reduce the overall cost of the vehicles, apart from encouraging the adoption of Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles among the US car consumers.

Though in terms of sales numbers, the car did not receive a lot of attention, Honda was the first ever auto manufacturing company that had leased a modern fuel cell electric vehicle, named as the FCX Clarity to US car customers. Now that there would be huge wave of Hydrogen fueled vehicles that a lot of car giants are planning to launch by the year 2015, the H2USA program will support the development and growth of the hydrogen refueling network across the nation. Honda America’s vice president of environmental business development, Steven Center, in a company statement said that the H2USA joint venture will also focus and work to find solution for other hydrogen energy sources that will include natural gas as well as renewable energy.

Honda is yet another non-US auto maker which has signed up to become a member of the H2USA to help the growth and promote the Fuel Cell vehicles, but as of now none of the Detroit 3 has joined this partnership that will make the FCEVs feasible and successful.
The American auto major General Motors has just shown interest in the field of fuel cell electric vehicles through its project of Chevrolet Equinox fuel cell vehicle. A lot of people who had participated in the company’s research project’s drives have reportedly given a lot of positive feedbacks regarding the Fuel Cell research project of General Motors.

Honda is definitely on its way to join the massive competition that the global auto giants are preparing themselves with their respective FCEVs for the year 2015.
