The next-gen Honda Civic to be endowed with Earth Dreams motor

The Honda Civic is apparently getting prepared to be endowed with an Earth Dreams engine. The Civic is a crucial pillar of the overall sales volume for Honda and the car is expected to get technically improved by its maker in order to motivate the customers with enhanced performance of the car.

The engine upgrade confirmation for the Honda Civic is made by the vice president and regional director for Honda North America, Tetsuo Iwamura. According to Iwamura the Earth Dreams engine will be powering the new Honda Civic as and when it receives a redesigning or re-engineering, and not while the car is receiving a mere facelift. That means that the Earth Dreams engine will become a part of the Honda Civic only when its next generation model comes into picture and during just another refresh. The Japanese company has not mentioned anything about whether this powertrain upgrade will only involve the standard Civic or the hybrid and Si Civic models will also get to have some major changes involving the cutting edge technology.

Honda motor’s whole range of Earth Dreams technologies covers much more than only the naturally aspirated engines with direct injection. The Earth Dream engine family also includes a turbocharged diesel engine along with a new gasoline-electric hybrid engine as well as a new continuously variable transmissions mill. Honda has already featured its 2.4 liter as well as 3.5 liter Earth Dreams motors powering the all new 2013 Honda Accord.

Iwamura also added that the company’s crucial model Civic needs to evolve in order to adapt to the future requirements of the competitive auto industry, however the company is at no hurry and is studying the market for the right time to bring in the next generation model of the Civic that is expected to arrive in a complete new package in terms of its design language as well as its technical specifications.
