The launch of Amaze in India has been a boon for Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL), most of the company’s admirable profits is contributed by Amaze. The demand for the car has risen to an extent that the company had to work out effective strategies to lessen waiting periods, and has zeroed in on increasing production of the car. To achieve higher production levels the company has established a new plant in its reputed factory in Greater Noida, the commencement of operations will begin in November.
Honda is keen to decrease the delivery period of booked units to two to three months. The car has been rolled out in dozens during the present four to five months. A top company official of Honda announced that the demand for the car is pretty steep, and bookings will continue to lessen waiting periods. This has led the company to build a 3rd plant in Noida; the operations will start from November. On the output measure the response from Honda was, ‘’the exact planned figure is not been estimated at the moment, the number will be lesser. The overall car output figure at present is 440 on a daily basis which includes Amaze manufactured in 2 shifts.’’
For ardent Amaze fans, this is indeed exciting news, where the waiting periods will reduce drastically by 2 months when operations in third units start. The booking figures are pretty massive at more than 20,000 pieces, on a monthly basis Honda has been releasing impressive figures of 5,500 pieces since April when the car was first launched. When questioned on production adjustments of its other projects to release higher Amaze figures, the response was other cars are constructed according to original schemes.
The car is priced to cater to all segments of Indian society at Rs 4.9-7.6 lakhs. As mentioned Amaze has contributed heaps of profits to the company, in the month of June, the sales in domestic segment was 9,297 pieces compared to 2,667 pieces same period in 2012. The car was built to cater to the needs of Indian demographic, and has created cut-throat competition with other models, its biggest arch rival is Swift Dzire built by Maruti Suzuki.
On the topic of price increase, Honda stated that weakening of Indian rupee against other currencies has caused certain amount of pressure with respect to pricing. The company at the moment is not keen on increasing the price of the car.
Amaze has all the attributes to satisfy Indian consumers, the petrol and diesel models have significant mileages. The mileage of Amaze diesel is 25.8kmpl which is known to be the best in its segment; this is highly beneficial for those who have to commute long distances to work on a daily basis. The ample interior room and standard safety features for all variants suits the Indian population to fight the poor Indian road conditions. The combination of excellent mileage, reasonable pricing and abundant interior room is an excellent combination that most Indian’s would desire. It would be interesting to observe the admirable profit sale contributed by Amaze when operations in third unit start.
