Honda Cars are admired for their classy and sophisticated designs and is a dream symbol for many. An interesting piece of information for Honda fans is its classic Civic model has passed the most stringent crash examination. The highly competitive tests were conducted by an established industry firm.

In India, safety is one of the top priorities due to unsatisfactory road conditions and in some areas the road are not properly tarred. Adequate safety features are now introduced from basic to most loaded versions. The safety examination was tested by Insurance institute for highway safety (IIHS), twelve cars did not meet marginal safety standards, but six models proved to satisfy safety norms.

The Civic earned admirable ratings in four and two door versions out beating even the popular lavish Elantra designed by Hyundai and even proved safer than other popular cars of Focus built by Ford and Dodge Dart. The most interesting fact about the crash test was even eminent models such as Nissan Sentra and Volkswagen Beetle received poor ratings. The Corolla manufactured by Toyota was not tested since a fresh model is on its way, to the amazement of Honda fans and people; the Civic is a top seller in U.S and has out beaten even the Corolla which is the second best seller.

The Insurance institute for highway and safety rated the cars on performance, the test was referred to as small overlap crash test conducted on the front portion. The front portion according to experts is the most critical safety aspect. The safety exams conducted by IIHS is known to be more competitive than those conducted by the Government of US’s crash test with the entire segment of the car. Officials from the institute have said that the front portion of the car is designed with shock absorbers, and crashed with the front region have led to life threatening and fatal accidents.

Two variants of Honda Civic together with Elantra, Focus and Dart have been branded the top safety picks by IIHS, and are appreciated for their spectacular performances in a range of tests which included minor crashes. Around twenty five models have earned this position, and interestingly emerge from a range of design segments. IIHS has also displayed their ratings on the net and online car buyers can source models with world class safety and enjoy a thrilling drive experience.

U.S is known to have one of the strongest car economies in the world; auto companies in the state have built cars with all the attributes for consumer satisfaction from superb exterior bodies to remarkable mileages. The car buying powers have increased on a massive scale with over 1.8 million fresh small models contributing a 12% increase based on Autodata Corp ratings.

The Civic is built with best-in-class safety features with SRS, driver and passenger airbags along with brake assist, EBD and ABS. There are also fog lamps in front for superior visibility, seat belts, alarm device, keyless entry and so on. An engine immobilizer in inserted to prevent thefts, child locks to protect children.

The Civic is a noteworthy purchase for American citizens and would be great if the car is introduced in India as well.
