Refinement and reliability, this is what the Japanese brands are best known for and Honda is no exception. They have got some really nice bikes in their lineup. Dream Neo is their latest entry here. It is a bike targeted at the efficiency conscious urban commuters. We take a closer look on the Honda Dream Neo.

They have kept the looks of this bike simple. It looks conservative and the looks are very similar to the CB Shine and Dream Yuga. The fuel tank is small at 8 litres but looks nice. You can pick the model with 18 inch wire spoke wheels or the one with black alloy wheels. There is an abundance of black which looks nice. The engine, frame and the exhaust are finished in black which aid the looks.

The front end has got an angular headlamp with a bikini fairing similar to the Yuga. Many people might not like the simple design they have gone for, but no one would hate it either. The rear end has got a simplistic tail lamp and a tubular grab rail. The fit and finish of the components is good and the material used doesn’t feel cheap.

The instrument of the motorcycle is pretty simple. There are no flashy digital meters and it is all analog. It has got an analog speedometer and an analog fuel gauge. The switches used are of good quality. They have been placed well and are easy to use. No complaints here. Though most other manufacturers have moved towards digital speedos and fuels indicators, it still holds a spot with nice, well readable analog cluster.

The seat on the motorcycle is wide and the foam is comfortable. It is not too soft so you won’t dig into the seat. The seat has got good support and you won’t move about on it. The seating is upright and the handlebar is wide. You get plenty of space between your knees and the handlebar even if you are tall. You get the big bike feel when you are riding this bike and it works well.  It would not only be comfortable for city rides but also for occasional long rides.

The engine is shared with the recently launched Honda dream yuga. It is a 109 cc unit which generates 8.25 bhp at 7500 rpm. The torque is at 8.6 Nm at 5500 rpm. The engine pulls strongly from low revs and this makes the city riding easy. The clutch is light and this would make things easier in stop go traffic. It is good to ride at cruising speeds and you won’t have to downshift every time you want to overtake someone. The bike is good for a speed of around 60-70 Kmph and anything above would strain the engine as well as the rider. The engine is extremely refined, typically Honda and if you don’t take the revs too high, you will be happy with the engine sound.

Go for this bike if you need a decent commuter to take you to your office and back. As it is a Honda, it won’t give you anything to complain about.
