This contract was purely for formula one but the collaborating companies were looking for automotive technology and were also sharing the same very openly. The strategy with the same technology was shared very openly. The discussion was also that the road car strategy at that time had no other partner and the collaboration was good when Honda entered the road. One industry that shows no signs of slowing down launches is the automotive industry. Amidst all the hype surrounding the technological advancement in automotive technology, it’s tempting to believe that it was Whitmarsh who mouthed the aforesaid words around last weekend Hungarian Grand Prix.

But the original vision for the road car strategy belongs to Henry Ford, who launched the Ford Model in the US in the early 1900s which later became a commercial success and got America on wheels. And now talking about the alliance of the two magnanimous companies of the present automotive sector, seems as if it may change the game in car manufacturing around.

According to the report from UK’s Autocar, that quoted McLaren CEO Martin Whitmarsh, citing the multiyear deal may lead to expansion of their alliance beyond the world of Formula 1.

Counting upon the statements made by the tycoon, we still won’t be having a glimpse of a McLaren-Honda road car in near future. It’s also known that McLarens’ road car division is already nailed at work on a rival for the grand Porsche 911, commonly known as P13. Paying heed to the words of Whitmarsh , teams have churned out various ideas on the  yet to be cracked decision regarding the collaboration; to let the wheels roll for common man too.

Whitmarsh’s rhetoric was echoed by a joint statement from the two manufacturers: “On 16th May 2013, Honda announced its decision to participate in Formula 1 season to be held in 2015, under a joint project with McLaren.  This has lead to a perfect on the road and productive working relationship with the McLaren.

But still sword of Damocles hangs over the decision of letting the project out of the bag. Because new launches will happen as companies will look to offset risks in the existing business. The new launches have to get a closer view to understand if the market watchers expect them to succeed, else later it may give ire to both the companies in different ways. Breaking the ice, both the CEOs mentioned

Though, being victorious in formula 1 very tough and the racers should be 100 percent committed. Thus the main focus of the company should be on formula one and Powertrain. As the saying goes -”A mandate for change is a mandate for smart” and mandate today are also for managers of businesses everywhere. These volatile times have in fact put the onus on the businesses to focus on complex global needs of the organization now, more than ever. And being the CEO of their respective companies, both these personalities have to step into their boots to catch to prosper higher and not mangle their corporations.
