The Japanese auto giant brought in another of its stunning upgraded car in the American market with the launch of its 2014 compact SUV, Honda CR-V. The SUV now comes with amazing fuel efficiency, improved styling and an exciting array of comfort features which easily brings it among the best compact SUV in the market. The latest from the Honda family has already scored a number of accolades including an overall vehicle score of 5 Stars by the NHTSA or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and of being the Top Safety Pick of 2013 by the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). Honda CR-V has been the best-selling car in the SUV segment in America.
The 2014 lineup model of the CR-V comprise of remarkable features and additions in the form of CR-VLX, CR-V EX and CR-V EX-L. The CR-VLX features include single pull rear seat that can be folded flat, cruise control, air conditioning, a 160 watt audio system with Pandora interface that works with compatible Smartphones and 4 speakers, Bluetooth hands-free feature, a rear view camera etc.
Similarly, the most popular among the CR-V models, CR-V EX has some added premium features to it which include a power operated moon-roof, an upgraded audio system with 6 speakers and alloy-wheels of 17 inches each. The addition of interior trimmed with leather, an extra powerful audio system of 328 watts with 7 speakers and XM radio3 and many more, further enhances the CR-V EX to CR-V EX-L. The latter also sports a Navigation System, which is satellite-linked and comes with FM Traffic and Voice Recognition, along with a rear DVD Entertainment system.
All models of the Honda CR-V are going to flaunt a Real Time all-wheel drive (AWD). An exterior driver’s mirror for expanded view adds to a visibility of 5.5 degrees, outside the view field of the mirror. This functions as an aid to the driver to look out to the parts of the road which would have not been visible with a regular mirror.
The SUV has a huge centre console and is very spacious from the inside, for a five-seater car. The car comprises of an inventive fold down seat back at the rear with a 60-40 split. The rear seat can be effortlessly folded with the help of the release levers placed near the opening of the tailgate or through the pull straps that can be reached from any of the rear doors.
The full colour stunning and smart i-MID or the Multi-Information Display makes a part of the CR-V package, offering a list of customizable functions through fingertip controls present on the car steering. A rear-view camera covers multiple angles and gives an option of 3 distinct views on the navigation screen or the i-MID. The 2014 version of the CR-V is equipped with a number of advanced features like ABS combined with brake assist, airbags for front passenger, side-curtain airbags that has rollover sensors, VSA control system for electronic stability and many others.
The upgraded CR-V for 2014 is featured with a powerful engine – 2.4 Litre 4-cylinder iVTEC which can generate a maximum power of 185 bhp and the highest torque of 220Nm. The engine comes in combination with an automatic transmission consisting of five speed options.
The 2014 upgraded model of the Honda CR-V is expected to be priced starting from 22,945.2 USD (14,04,246.24 INR) in the American market.
