The automobile giant – Honda has come up with yet a new model suitable for the Asian markets introducing the Honda Brio MPV, targeting the Asian markets including India, Indonesia and the Malaysia. The company revealed the teaser sketches of the for the MPV specifically designed for the Indonesian markets back in July this year. Last month, at the 2013 Indonesia International Motor Show, the company unveiled the prototype of the Brio-based MPV named the Honda Mobilio.
In India, this new MPV from Honda is expected to hit the Indian roads next year and can be considered a competition for the models like Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Nissan Evalia or the Chevrolet. The new MPV from Honda is the first attempt developed for the Asian markets.
The Honda Brio diesel MPV will come with an engine capacity of 1498cc 96.6 bhp, i-Dtec diesel motor that offers immediate throttle reactions and also maximum torque. This is the same engine which is currently used in the Honda Amaze. It is expected to be made available in three variants like S(MT), E(MT) and E(CVT) with extraordinary features and specifications. The S (MT) is the basic variant while the E(CVT) has more advanced features with ABS and chrome vents.
The overall length of the vehicle is 4390mm which is 245mm longer than the amaze and comes with a wheel base of 2650mm. The vehicle has a more spacious cabin compared to amaze with the roof line being modified and the overall height of the vehicle being 105mm greater than the amaze. The ground clearance is also increased by 20mm from its previous models totaling to a 185mm that can be driven smoothly on any terrain.
The vehicle is seven seated with three rows and has excellent interior and exterior designing that offers a classy and sporty look to the MPV. The Honda’s innovative designing of the vehicle gives it a very aggressive look with sporty bumpers, window line kinks, elevated wheel arches, floating D pillar, stylish headlights and rear lights, rear wipers, all make the vehicle look very dynamic.
The interiors are also very well designed with spacious cabin for all the passengers to be seated comfortably with seat reclining option for the second and third row seats, power windows, tilt adjustable steering, music system with USB connectivity, seat belts with pretension, dual airbags and so on in the basic model which were also found in their earlier models like Amaze or Brio.
However the other two variants come with much more advanced features like keyless entry, sliding seats, silver accents for gear knob and steering, central locking etc. and some more features that can be expected once the vehicle is launched in the market. The E (CVT) also sports a bumper mounted with a CVT badge to make a distinction from the other variants. It is also expected by the automobile experts that a VX variant might also be introduced in the Indian markets that might carry some more additional features appealing to those who would like their vehicles to be luxurious.
Both petrol and diesel engine variants are offered by Honda in this MPV segment and one has to wait till the 2014 auto expo to experience the Honda Brio diesel MPV firsthand.
