The vast auto industry of the world is full of new possibilities and great futuristic innovations. With the advent of immense technological advancements, the auto majors of the world are trying to provide optimal convenience features in the near future products. The auto makers are including everything possible technologies in the new cars from the smart phone features to artificial intelligence in a bid to offer mind blowing future cars.
Being a noteworthy global luxury car brand, Honda is not behind when it comes to new innovative technologies for its upcoming cars. The Japanese auto major is really keen to make it big with great car features, and provide something really commendable and futuristic to the customers. The market competition is also immense, as all the major car manufacturing companies are sweating over increasingly potential cars in terms of fuel efficiency, performance and technological advancement. Thus, Honda is trying to keep its pace matched with its rivals.
The one technology that has been the dream of the entire auto industry of the globe is perhaps that of the completely autonomous driving. However, there are several hindrances that remain to be resolved before this becomes a reality. For the time being thus, the world’s big automakers are achieving small goals at a time in order to attain the ultimate great goal of an autonomous car. The global auto giants are all working on semi-autonomous technologies at present. The car behemoths such as Toyota, Nissan and Ford have been striving over and have come up several types of automated driving technologies. Honda has now joined the automated driving mode bandwagon, with its automatic valet parking system.
Honda has introduced its automated valet car parking system in some specially equipped Fit/Jazz EVs at the Intelligent Transportation Systems World Congress that is held in Tokyo.
Honda’s technology is however different than that of Ford’s self-parking Focus that the company recently showcased. While Ford’s technology is fully independent, the Honda valet parking system needs input from the intended parking lot through cameras. Using the combined information via the car’s rearview camera and the various cameras positioned all across a particular parking lot, the driver can drop his vehicle at a prominent location. Hence forward with the help of a touchscreen display, the car can be parked at a desired lot and also can be returned at the same spot where the driver left it.
The advantage of this Honda technology is that multiple cars can be parked simultaneously with the usage of only the rearview camera at the car’s end. However, this system can be operated at only those parking lots that have all the necessary provisions. Honda claims that this system from the company will be operational by 2020.
Apart from the automated valet parking, Honda also displayed some other semi-automated driving systems as well as non-contact electric car recharging systems at the Intelligent Transportation Systems World Congress.
With these autonomous driving technologies from the various car makers coming to effect, very soon the world will experience an all new driving experience.
