The Indian market is ready for luxurious MPVs with the already successful Toyota Innova offering quality, space and reliability for long distance journeys. In the same segment, now Honda Odyssey Diesel India launch can be announced any time now by the company. The car is expected to become the ultimate vehicle for big families with ample space, luxurious interiors and remarkable exteriors.
The Honda odyssey diesel India comes with advanced compatibility engineering body structure which is a trademark of the Honda Company. Presently it is offered with five trim models with the base LX model to the elite EX-L touring, in the global market. The same can be expected for the Indian market as well.
Design and Looks
The exteriors are world class with a great styling adapted in designing the vehicle according to the available sources. The vehicle has carved aluminum hood, striking twin bar grille, lowered front fascia, chrome trimmed fog lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, power side mirrors with turn indicators, HID headlights, power sliding doors, power tailgate, rear roofline spoiler, and also a smart entry detecting when the key fob is near to the vehicle.
The interiors are really amazing with a blend of both style and comfort in the seating design. The interiors are also done in chrome with the technologically advanced instrument panel. The driver seat comes with a 10 way power adjustments including lumbar support. The multi view rear view camera comes very handy to the drivers given them different perspectives happening behind the vehicle that is displayed on the i-MID screens.
There is also Bluetooth enabled streaming audio, USB audio interface, three row side curtain air bags, remote entry system, steering wheel mounted controls, satellite linked navigation system, flip up trash bags, push button start, cargo configurations, seat configurations and so on. It also comes with an expanded drivers mirror view, 4-way power passage seat and also standard Pandora interface in all its variants. The Honda elite version also features inbuilt vacuum cleaner to easily clean the interiors offering a fresh environment in the vehicle as and when required.
Engine and Transmission
It comes with a 3.5 liter i-VTEC V6 engine with a 6 speed automatic transmission offering an average mileage of 22mpg. The odyssey churns out horse power of 248@5700 rpm with a torque of 250@4800 rpm. It also has variable cylinder management where the vehicle is programmed to run on three, four or six cylinders depending on the power required for the drive.
Safety Features
Safety is one aspect that Honda would never compromise and the new Honda odyssey diesel India has state of the art safety features like ACE body structure that protects the occupants in frontal collisions. The anti-lock braking system allows the drive to control the steering even when applying hard braking as the force is balanced evenly by the electronic brake distribution system. Daytime running lights, active head restraints, multiple threshold front air bags, 3 point seat-belts in the front with an automatic tension system, lane departure warning system, pressure monitoring system etc. all empower the vehicle for a safe drive.
The vehicle may cost around Rs 25 lakhs to Rs 30 lakhs in the Indian markets which shall be decided once the vehicle is announced for the Indian markets. This is expected to be done by the end of this year or the coming year.
