Honda has a string of new surprise packages, such as Urban SUV, Mobilio MPV, City diesel and so on. The launch of Honda City diesel is round the corner scheduled for November 25th 2013, and deliveries will commence in Jan next year. The City has always been an excitement symbol for many, now with the new City diesel, the thrilling effect is sky rocketing. The car is a grand package indeed, with its magnificent posh sedan appeal, artistic lines and creases and superior interior room compared to its predecessor. The City will fuel competition levels to new heights and one of its arch rivals is the Skoda Rapid.
The City diesel is rolled out in petrol and diesel variants, and will be fitted with 1.5 liter iDTEC and 1.5 liter iVTEC engine options. The technology used in the diesel engine is Variable Geometry Turbo, which releases remarkable engine outputs of 120 bhp and 225Nm torque. The petrol 1.5 liter iVTEC yields 146Nm torque and 116 bhp power. Sources state that the company has not made a statement on whether the torque and power values would vary.
The Rapid, is equipped with a potent 1.6 liter TDi and 1.6 liter MPI engine, and the displacement capacity with both engines is 1598cc. The petrol fuelled Rapid releases 153Nm torque and 103 bhp power, and with the diesel car it is 250Nm and 103 bhp. The two cars are mated to six speed automatic and five speed manual gearbox.
The new City diesel will have loads of amazing interior equipments such as audio visual navigation devise, touch screen multimedia with Bluetooth, iPod, USB and Aux-in facilities. The Skoda Rapid is filled with manual air con vents, length and height adjustable steering wheel, height adjustment seats, and halogen projector head lamps.
In India most people relate to Honda brand than Skoda, the City is a key profit player for Honda. The company has however not managed to record impressive sales with City due to the lack of diesel car. Skoda Rapid has recorded decent sale numbers in India, but has not met company’s desirability levels.
Honda City diesel is a strong contender for Rapid; the interiors have more to offer, with a hoarse of high tech and comfort features. Also together with the splendid interior features are the customer choice options, of diesel and petrol. Now imagine the thrill factor of the car, nothing can be better than having the luxury of a touch screen multi media and audio navigation devise. Such luxuries are absent in Rapid, but the car scores well in terms of engine capacity compared to City diesel.
