After a lot of speculations regarding the introduction of the next generation Honda City sedan in India, Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) has officially announced that the company is going to unveil the all new 2014 Honda City on 25th of November, 2013 in India. This Indian unveiling of the 2014 City will also be the car’s world premiere. The Japanese luxury car maker has made a statement saying that the global unveiling of the next-gen Honda city will be done on 25th of this month, while the company referred to the all new City as the iconic model that has redefined design and technology in the automotive world. While this official unveiling confirmation did come from the Japanese car major, no image teasers of the 2014 City have yet been provide by the company.
The news that the 2014 Honda City is going make its first global appearance in India on the 25th of November was already out prior to Honda’s confirmation. Thanks to the clever automotive journalists, it has been also reported that the Honda dealers all over the country have already commenced registering pre-orders for the new model of the sedan. Thus, most of the major details regarding the all new Honda City’s Indian unveiling have been already leaked out, which might have lead to Honda’s confirmation. The stocks of the ongoing model of the City sedan have been already exhausted in the dealership showrooms. This new model of the iconic brand from Honda will be officially launched in the Indian car market at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, shortly after which the deliveries of the car will commence.
This time around Honda is also bringing in the City’s diesel counterpart following the outstanding success of the Amaze compact sedan. The all new 2014 Honda City is expected to be offered in about 6 to 8 model trims in both the fuel options of petrol as well as diesel. The petrol variant of the 2014 City will carry forward the current generation model’s 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol engine. On the other hand, the diesel variant of the new sedan will be powered by the much acclaimed 1.5 liter i-DTEC diesel engine drives the very popular Honda Amaze. This diesel engine is currently India’s most fuel efficient engine, and this will be tweaked by the company to churn out more power for the bigger City sedan. The engine will also be further refined in order to reduce the sedan’s NVH level and offer a superior driving experience.
The all new 2014 City is developed based on the 2014 Jazz hatchback’s platform, and is thus bigger and better from all aspects. It is expected to flaunt an entirely different and even greater stunning design language. The next-gen sedan will come along with larger swept back clear lens headlight consoles with dazzling projector lights, new stylized LED tail lights, bold lines on its side profile and many more stunning exterior features in order to pose as an absolute head turner.
