Honda is all ready to launch a brand new car in the market by the year 2014 and this new Accord is all set to be launched in its hybrid variant and Honda acknowledges that the Accord would be packed with all new technologies to get it acknowledged from the rest of the models. The reason why we call this an hybrid technology is that, it would be powered by an 2 liter, Atkinson cycle four cylinder ultra-efficient engine and would be powered by two electric motors. One of the motors would be fixed to the back end of the engine and would serve as a generator to charge the battery pack on the engine and the second motor is set to transfer power to the front wheels and would help to recharge the pack under the regenerative braking system.
Engine performance:
The engine of the 2014 Honda Accord would be mated to a six speed CVT system and features a hybrid intelligent Multi mode drive that could churn out a power of 142 HP and a torque of 122 lb. Both the engines would offer a combined system output of 196 HP and features a lithium ion battery technology to power the front wheels. The acceleration of the engine from rest to 60 mph takes just 7.5 seconds.
The vehicle is featured to be released in California and New York and the two motors and three ways to drive allows seamless transmission between the three driving modes by using the power of its in-VTEC engine and its electric motor. The three driving modes includes, all electric drive when the user starts from a stop the hybrid drive that enables working of engine and gas together and helps a great deal in changing speeds regularly and last the engine drive, that enables gas powered cruising. The All new Honda Accord would be priced at 39,780 USD, and there are no news leaks if the vehicle would be released in India.
Specifications of the car:
The car would feature the most regenerative braking system and its 2 liter and four cylinder engines are capable of churning out a power of 137 horsepower. The car has an ambient climate control system and the vehicle would yield a fuel efficiency of 80 miles per hour in an all-electric mode. This is a highly efficient vehicle that could get charged with a 240 volt outlet. The car also offers the choice of saving the charge of the battery to be used later and the all-electric mode completely exhausts its battery before starting up its gasoline engine, though there is a choice of saving up the battery for future use as well. It offers awesome mileage and fuel efficiency with excellent driving experience on the highways.
Drawbacks of the car:
Though the all new Honda Accord has been considered a futuristic car, it features a tight boot space. As the car features a huge battery pack, there is hardly any space to keep more than two bags, leaving the choice of travelling very light in the car.
