Honda Accord is a mid-sized sedan and such sedans are changing very quickly as per the market requirements. Let’s talk about powertrain delivery of the vehicle. This vehicle by Honda comes with 2L four cylinder ultra-efficient Atkinson cycle engine along with two electric motors, which is a new thing. One among the two motors is placed at the back side of the engine which supports battery charging acting as a generator. The other motor is positioned on the differential which gives power to the front wheels and is also responsible for offering power to pack under braking.
The engine of the new Accord is combined with six speed CVT fitted in a i-MMD that has the capacity of developing power of 141bhp and 122lb-ft of torque. The new system of two electric motors offers tremendous power of about 166hp and 226lb-ft which makes the total combination of 196hp. The car has new lithium-ion battery that powers the front wheels and allows Accord to run 0-6-mph on almost 7.5 seconds.
Initially, after the release of first plug-in, the Accord was available in only California and New York. The three driving modes offered in Accord can seamlessly be shifted with the support of power from 4 cylinder engine and 2 electric motors.
The new electronic drive is an interesting feature in Accord and is called as an EV drive. The EV drive gets activated automatically when you start your vehicle and do light acceleration or cruise and also when you apply brake. When you start a vehicle when it is stopped, it need fuel so with EV drive Honda has made the start 100% electric.
When a driver is driving and keeps changing the speed frequently, it is supported by Hybrid Drive technology that works with gas helps you to drive efficiently and the gas engine offers burst.
Whenever you cruise, Accord’s gas engine cruises effectively and efficiently with gas powered cruising.
After looking at the features offered by the Accord, the expected price is 39, 780 USD which is on a bit higher side. Also, there is no announcement regarding the price and launch date of car in India. However, Honda Accord users might be looking forward for such news from the company.
