The Honda Dio and the newly launched Honda Activa DLX belong to the same Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer. Both these gearless scooters are crafted almost identically. When one actually sees these two bikes, it is easy to spot many similarities.

Performance

Both the Honda DLX Activa and the Dio are powered by 4-stroke, air-cooled engine. The engine displacement of this engine is 109 cc. The maximum power output generated by the engine is 8 bhp revving at 7000 RPM. While the Honda Dio’s engine churns a maximum torque output of 8.77 NM revving at 5500 RPM, the engine fitted in Honda Activa DLX churns a peak torque of 8.74 NM at 5500 RPM. The engine comes coupled with a V-matic transmission system. The Honda Dio’ s engine has a fuel tank capacity of  6 litres while that of the Activa has a fuel tank capacity of 5.3 litres. The Honda Dio delivers a fuel efficiency of 60 kmpl while the Honda Activa offers a fuel economy of 55 kmpl. The Honda Dio is available in a wide range of colors like Pearl Sunbeam White, Pearl Trance Yellow, Sports Red and Mat Axis Grey Metallic.

In the new Dio, the two-wheeler maker has widened its seats for the person who occupies the rear seat of the scooter. This ensures a comfortable and a smooth ride for the occupant riding pillion. In the storage space department, often seriously considered for moped bikes, the Honda Dio does not disappoint and comes with 18 L storage space under its seat. Indeed, this space is enough to keep all stuff. If one thinks this space is not enough, then he/she can opt to buy the optional box which can be effortlessly fitted at the front end of the bike. But this calls for negotiating with  legroom to some extent. The Honda Activa DLX also gets a 18 L storage space to keep all stuff comfortably. Also, the Honda Activa DLX gets a stylish and sleek looking Inner Box along with flat foot board equipped with a hook. This enhances the storage capacity offered by the scooter. It is great to carry small objects like  groceries, water bottles and a lot more. The Honda Dio is priced in India at Rs. 46, 716 approximately while the on-road price stretches up by another Rs. 53,000.

If one compares the specifications of the Dio and the Activa DLX then it is clearly evident that the Dio and the Activa DLX are simply each other’s’ competitors. This is because the dimensions of both these scooters are almost the same and there are hardly any differences to notice. It becomes difficult to decide which is a better scooter since both share several components and deliver almost similar performance. While the Dio feels quite light to ride, the Activa offers better handling. Indeed, the decision to choose between Honda Dio and the Honda Activa DLX is purely based on the individual.
