Honda Cars India is having a win-win situation in the Indian car market for over 9 months now, in a time when the other car companies are still struggling with the market slump. The Japanese luxury car maker now has plans to completely reign over the Indian auto industry by introducing at least 3 new cars by the end of the next financial year.
The very first new model that will hit India from the house of Honda, has been already unveiled in India. This is the all new fourth generation model of the iconic Honda City sedan that had its world prepare on 25th of November, 2013 in India. The all new 2014 City will be hitting the market for sale on the 7th of this month. The all new 2014 City has become all the more stunning than ever and is now coming with its diesel counterpart as well. The new sedan is also going to be the most fuel efficient diesel car in India. With this new City with all its new charm, features and efficiency is expected to be a new game changer for Honda India and become one of the highest selling sedans in the country. The new City is already registering great numbers of pre-bookings and expected to soon become a bestselling car in India post its market launch.
The next big launch from Honda will be a new multi-purpose vehicle that is based on the popular Brio hatch. This is named as the Honda Mobilio MPV. This is also expected to be a big seller in India and give direct competition to the segment leader Toyota Innova.
The third new Honda car that is set to hit the Indian market is the all new 2014 Jazz premium hatchback. This latest gen model of the Jazz will mark the resurrection of the hatch brand in India.
All these new Honda car models will come in both petrol and diesel variants and feature the company new diesel engine that debuted with the super successful Amaze.
Recently, Honda has revealed that it has heightened its focus on the Asian markets and expects the markets of India and Indonesia to account for half of the company’s total production. Yoshiyuki Matsumoto, Honda Motor India’s president and CEO revealed that the will be expanding its portfolio for India by introducing at least 3 new models by the next fiscal.
Moreover, Matsumoto has also expressed his interest in developing a made in India vehicle that would be exported to the adjoining countries. He said that he is in India to develop a made in India car but prior to that the company needs to bring down the cost and enhance the company’s R&D.
The Indian car market is primarily dominated by the small cars and a lot of global car manufacturers in India are concentrating on the Indian small car segment in order to draw more sales volumes, Honda is probably thinking the same.
