The Tokyo Motor Show which concluded barely a month ago, Japanese automaker lifted the curtains off the Vezel crossover. For those who are not aware, this Vezel crossover is a production edition of the Urban SUV concept that first made its appearance at the Detroit Auto Show. As per new reports that have surfaced online, the yet to be launched model has a three-month waiting list alone in Japan. However, this does not indicate that Mugen, tuning division at Honda, is waiting to spruce up the car.
Several websites have posted pictures of the Mugen-tuned edition of the Vezel crossover which were leaked through a sales brochure in Japan. Though not enough information is available as of now, the way Mugen seems to have designed Vezel, it apparently carries a custom aero kit while the side sills and the lower bumpers look more pronounced. It can be said that the Vezel gets a Acura-style grille treatment and new set of wheels. The wheels appear to be 20-inch BBS allow wheels. The rear part of the Vezel also sports a striking bumper while the car’s rear spoiler has been attached to the top end of the hatch door.
It is highly likely that the 1.5-litre petrol oil burner, finding its place under Vezel’s hood, will be fine tuned to deliver more power. This is a characteristic trait of all Honda that are performance oriented. It is also rumored that the Honda Vezel will be 4WD which means that Vezel will also feature a four-wheel drive option.
The styling done by Mugen may not cater to everyone’s tastes and preferences, but the styling accessories by Mugen give this small crossover a very distinctive character, owing the new, striking front grille assembly as well as the apron that encloses half of the car’s bumper, color coordinated wheel arch plastic surrounds, rear apron, side skirts and a roof spoiler.
Buyers can choose from a range of alloy wheel designs, particularly in 18-inches alloy wheels. Mugen also offers a sports exhaust equipped with twin pipes for hybrid as well as regular powertrains, brake kits, lowered suspension and also a carbon fiber trim kit especially for the car’s interiors.
It is also rumored that the Japanese automobile maker will be bringing the Vezel crossover to the Indian shores by the end of the coming year and will likely label it as CR-U. If rumors are to be believed, then the Honda Vezel will be offered with diesel as well as petrol engines but will only be coming with front-wheel drive for the Indian market. Experts are also speculating about the Mugen variant. There is still a long way to go before India sees performance Hondas so the rumored date of launch is likely to true.
It is also much anticipated whether the Mugen fine-tuned package will be launched in North American when this CUV is launched there. Going by the history, it is unlikely that North America will be getting this tuned-up Honda.
