Honda cars India has inaugurated the car production unit in its Tapukara Plant in Rajasthan on 24th of February as was previously announced by the company. The new manufacturing facility of the Japanese car major is spread across 450 acres of land with the production capacity of 1,20,000 vehicles per annum. Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) is the largest maker of premium cars in India. With its new Tapukara facility that is located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan. The extremely successful Honda Amaze compact sedan is the first car to roll out from this new factory.
The grand inaugural ceremony of Honda’s Tapukara Plant was graced by the presence of the Rajasthan state government’s Chief Minister, Ms. Vasundhara Raje and the Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Japanese Embassy in India, Mr. Yasuhisa Kawamura.
The inauguration of the new Honda plant was also attended by several Senior officials from the state government of Rajasthan, Honda Motor’s senior management as well as the company’s business partners.
Honda’s new facility in Tapukara is the first ever car manufacturing factory in Rajasthan. The massive facility is an all inclusive car plant that includes all the functions of manufacturing a car from Forging, Powertrain shop, Press Shop, Weld shop, Plastic Molding, Paint shop, Frame assembly, Engine assembly, and Engine Testing facilities.
While speaking at the inauguration of the new Tapukara plant, the Managing Officer of Honda Motor Company Limited, Japan, Mr. Yoshiyuki Matsumoto said that the day is very important for the company, as Honda is embarking on the process of starting production of cars from the new plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan. This new facility will not only strengthen the company’s foot print in India, but also make way for progress as well as prosperity for the people of the state of Rajasthan.
He added by saying that he is taking the opportunity to extend his sincere gratitude towards the government of Rajasthan, and especially to the honorable chief minister of the state for enabling the company to complete the project at every step. The high spirit of cooperation that was showcased by the Rajasthan government has already created a very encouraging environment for the companies to invest in Rajasthan and the state will surely benefit from the same.
He further added by saying that over the coming few years, the Tapukara car facility will become a primary hub for Honda for exporting both the petrol and diesel engine components as well as other auto parts to the several over Honda plants located in the various parts of the Southeast Asia region. The company’s aimed export turnover for the financial year of 2013-14 is around Rs 350 crore. This will really grow further, as Honda Cars India expands its exports.
Matsumoto concluded by adding that as the company expands its business in the country and plans for further future growth, he seeks the continued support as well as cooperation from the Rajasthan government, the company’s neighboring societies and all business partners.
