Honda Motor Corp a renowned Japanese base auto manufacturer is keen to open positions to foreigners. The actual decision on the process will be finalized by Monday, when the company is one the go for a reshuffle of top positions. On opening doors to foreign nationals, the Vice President of Honda, Tetsuo Iwamura said, ‘’ our team takes firm decisions, and when questioned about bringing in foreign nationals he spoke of a new unit opening in Celaya city of Mexico.
Honda is the third largest auto unit in Japan and is now keen to bring in diversity to the auto engineering network. Japan’s established firms are in a state of dilemma to bring in foreign nationals. The reason is the uncertainties in various departments like risk management and governance, and the company was earlier keen to depend on existing locals to climb the corporate ladder. This way the familiarity and trust factor is higher.
Honda’s first US operations commenced in 1982, and the company at present has a vast export base with the sale of 80% vehicles. The company was not in favor of recruiting foreign talents in the upper crusts of the company’s headquarter based in Japan. Honda stated that the work carried out has been smooth on local soil and some of the managers are given positions in international units. Hence the overseas base of the company is strong.
Honda now has a different perspective of its home grown operations, and is now keen to invite foreign talent. The goal now is to grow at a rapid pace and bring in supreme talent to emerging markets. The company is keen to elevate its profit structure and has even sought help from local bank on how to bring in diversity to the management unit.
Sources have said that Honda is keen to invite a foreign national within top positions of the company in the near future. The actual appointment of executive and boars member will take place on Monday, for the next financial period that will commence in April. Honda said that it is not in a hurry to chalk out its diversification process.
Honda has worked marvelously for years with its local recruits, and has worked its way through troubled times in event of natural disasters like Tusnami which rocked the nation a few years ago. The company has a long history of family hierarchy, and the legacy has passed on years. The family structure is strong in Japan and the tradition in Honda dates back to early historical periods of post World War II.
